From among all the Israelites, I have given the Levites as gifts to Aaron and his sons to do the work at the tent of meeting on behalf of the Israelites and to make atonement for them so that no plague will strike the Israelites when they go near the sanctuary.”

I have given the Levites as gifts to Aaron and his sons. I have taken them from among all the Israelites. I have appointed them to do the work at the tent of meeting. They will do it in place of the Israelites. That is how they will keep the Israelites from being guilty when they go near the sacred tent. Then no plague will strike the Israelites when they go near the tent.”

And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and his sons from among the people of Israel, to do the service for the people of Israel at the tent of meeting and to make atonement for the people of Israel, that there may be no plague among the people of Israel when the people of Israel come near the sanctuary.”

And of all the Israelites, I have assigned the Levites to Aaron and his sons. They will serve in the Tabernacle on behalf of the Israelites and make sacrifices to purify the people so no plague will strike them when they approach the sanctuary.”

From the Israelites, I have given the Levites exclusively to Aaron and his sons to perform the work for the Israelites at the tent of meeting and to make atonement on their behalf, so that no plague will come against the Israelites when they approach the sanctuary.”

And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the sons of Israel, to perform the service of the sons of Israel at the tent of meeting and to make atonement on behalf of the sons of Israel, so that there will be no affliction among the sons of Israel due to their approaching the sanctuary.”

And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the work for the children of Israel in the tabernacle of meeting, and to make atonement for the children of Israel, that there be no plague among the children of Israel when the children of Israel come near the sanctuary.”

摩西对亚伦说：“拿你的香炉，把祭坛的火盛在里面，加上香，赶快带到会众那里，为他们赎罪。因为有愤怒从耶和华面前发出，瘟疫已经开始了。”

他们的职务是作亚伦子孙的帮手，在耶和华的殿事奉，照管院子和屋子，洁净一切圣物，办理神殿的事务。他们负责预备供饼、素祭的细面和无酵薄饼，或用盘烤，或用油调和的祭物，确认其数量和大小。每日早晚、安息日、初一，以及节期，按数照例，经常献燔祭给耶和华的时候，他们站立称谢赞美耶和华。

“你要带利未支派近前来，站在亚伦祭司面前伺候他。他们要替他，又替全会众，在会幕前执行任务，办理帐幕的事。他们要看守会幕一切的器具，为以色列人执行任务，办理帐幕的事。你要把利未人给亚伦和他的儿子；他们是从以色列人中选出来完全给他的。

耶和华击杀伯‧示麦人，因为他们观看他的约柜。他击杀了百姓七十人。百姓因耶和华大大击杀他们，就哀哭了。

乌西雅既强盛，就心高气傲，以致败坏。他干犯耶和华—他的神，进耶和华的殿，要在香坛上烧香。亚撒利雅祭司率领八十名勇敢的耶和华的祭司，跟随他进去。他们阻止乌西雅王，对他说：“乌西雅啊，给耶和华烧香不是你的事，而是亚伦子孙的事，他们是分别为圣来烧香的祭司。你出圣殿吧！因为你犯了罪，耶和华神必不使你得尊荣。”乌西雅发怒，手拿香炉要烧香。他在耶和华殿中香坛旁向众祭司发怒的时候，他的额头在众祭司面前忽然长出麻风。亚撒利雅祭司长和众祭司转向他，看哪，他的额头长出麻风，就催他离开那里；他自己也急速出去，因为耶和华降灾于他。

他们必在我的圣所当仆役，照管殿门，在殿里伺候；他们要为百姓宰杀燔祭牲和其他祭牲，站在百姓面前伺候他们。因为这些利未人曾在偶像前伺候他们，成了以色列家罪孽的绊脚石，所以我向他们起誓：他们必担当自己的罪孽。这是主耶和华说的。他们不可亲近我，作事奉我的祭司，也不可挨近我任何一件圣物，就是至圣的物；他们却要担当自己的羞辱和所行可憎之事的报应。我要指派他们在殿里看守，办理殿中一切事务，做一切当做的工。”

你也要带你弟兄利未人，就是你父系支派的人前来，与你联合，服事你。你和你的儿子要一起在法柜的帐幕前；他们要遵守你的吩咐，负责看守整个帐幕，只是不可挨近圣所的器具和祭坛，免得他们和你们都死亡。他们要与你联合，负责看守会幕和帐幕一切的事；只是外人不可挨近你们。你们要负责看守圣所和祭坛，免得愤怒再临到以色列人。看哪，我已从以色列人中选了你们的弟兄利未人，交给你们为赏赐，归给耶和华，为要在会幕里事奉。
