我從以色列人中，把利未人賜給亞倫和他的眾子，在會幕裡辦理以色列人的事務，又為以色列人贖罪，免得他們走近聖所的時候，就有災禍臨到他們。”

From among all the Israelites, I have given the Levites as gifts to Aaron and his sons to do the work at the tent of meeting on behalf of the Israelites and to make atonement for them so that no plague will strike the Israelites when they go near the sanctuary.”

I have given the Levites as gifts to Aaron and his sons. I have taken them from among all the Israelites. I have appointed them to do the work at the tent of meeting. They will do it in place of the Israelites. That is how they will keep the Israelites from being guilty when they go near the sacred tent. Then no plague will strike the Israelites when they go near the tent.”

And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and his sons from among the people of Israel, to do the service for the people of Israel at the tent of meeting and to make atonement for the people of Israel, that there may be no plague among the people of Israel when the people of Israel come near the sanctuary.”

And of all the Israelites, I have assigned the Levites to Aaron and his sons. They will serve in the Tabernacle on behalf of the Israelites and make sacrifices to purify the people so no plague will strike them when they approach the sanctuary.”

From the Israelites, I have given the Levites exclusively to Aaron and his sons to perform the work for the Israelites at the tent of meeting and to make atonement on their behalf, so that no plague will come against the Israelites when they approach the sanctuary.”

And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the sons of Israel, to perform the service of the sons of Israel at the tent of meeting and to make atonement on behalf of the sons of Israel, so that there will be no affliction among the sons of Israel due to their approaching the sanctuary.”

And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the work for the children of Israel in the tabernacle of meeting, and to make atonement for the children of Israel, that there be no plague among the children of Israel when the children of Israel come near the sanctuary.”

但利未人要在法櫃帳幕的四周安營，免得神的忿怒臨到以色列的會眾；利未人要負看守法櫃的帳幕的責任。”

摩西對亞倫說：“你要拿著香爐，把壇上的火盛在裡頭，又加上香，快快帶到會眾那裡去，為他們贖罪，因為有震怒從耶和華面前出來，瘟疫已經開始了。”

他們的職任是協助亞倫的子孫，辦理耶和華殿的事務，管理院子、廂房和潔淨一切聖物，以及辦理神殿的事務；又管理陳設餅、素祭細麵，或無酵薄餅，或是煎盤烤的，或是用油調和的，以及管理各種量度的器具。每天早晨要侍立稱謝和讚美耶和華，每天晚上也要這樣；又要在安息日，每月初一日和指定的節日，按著數目照著規例，把燔祭不住地獻在耶和華面前。他們要看守會幕和聖所，以及看管他們在耶和華殿裡辦事的親族，亞倫的子孫。

“你要叫利未支派近前來，使他們站在亞倫祭司面前，可以服事他。他們要替亞倫和全體會眾，在會幕前盡上本分，辦理帳幕的事。他們又要看守管理會幕裡的一切器具，也要替以色列人盡上本分，辦理帳幕的事。你要把利未人派給亞倫和他的兒子，因為他們是從以色列人中選出來完全給他的。

耶和華因為伯．示麥人偷窺他的約櫃，就擊殺他們；他擊殺了七十人（“七十人”大多數文本都作“五萬零七十人”，少數文本作“七十人”）。眾人因為耶和華用大災擊殺他們，就哀哭起來。

烏西雅強盛起來，就心高氣傲，以致自尋毀滅，竟冒犯耶和華他的神；他進了耶和華的殿，要在香壇上燒香。跟隨烏西雅進去的，有亞撒利雅祭司，還有耶和華的祭司八十個，都是英勇的人。他們阻止烏西雅王，對他說：“烏西雅啊，給耶和華燒香不是你應作的事，而是亞倫的子孫作祭司的事，他們是分別為聖作燒香的事；請離開聖所吧，因為你作了不應該作的事了，你必不能從耶和華神那裡得著尊榮。”於是烏西雅十分忿怒，手裡拿著香爐正要燒香，他向眾祭司發怒的時候，就在耶和華的殿裡香壇旁邊眾祭司的面前，他的額上忽然長出了大痲風。大祭司亞撒利雅和眾祭司看著他，忽然見他的額上長了大痲風，就急忙催他出殿；他自己也急忙出去，因為耶和華擊打了他。

他們要在我的聖所作僕役，看管殿門，在聖殿中供職；他們要為人民宰殺燔祭牲和其他祭牲，又要站在人民面前侍候他們。因為這些利未人曾在他們的偶像前侍候這人民，成了陷以色列家在罪孽中的絆腳石。因此，我向他們舉手起誓，他們必要擔當自己的罪孽。這是主耶和華的宣告。他們不可親近我，作我的祭司，也不可親近我的一切聖物，或至聖之物。他們必要擔當自己的羞辱和他們所行可憎之事的報應。然而我要委派他們看守聖殿，辦理聖殿的一切事務，作一切當作的工。

你要帶著你的親族利未支派的人，就是你祖宗支派的人，與你一同前來，使他們與你聯合，並且服事你；只是你和你的兒子要與你一同在約櫃的會幕前供職。他們要守你所吩咐的，和會幕裡的一切事，只是不可走近聖所的器具和祭壇，免得他們和你們都死亡。他們要與你聯合，也要守會幕的本分，辦理會幕的一切事務；只是外人不可走近你們。你們要看守聖所和祭壇，免得震怒再臨到以色列人。我已經把你們的親族利未人，從以色列人中揀選出來，給你們作禮物獻與耶和華，為要辦理會幕的事。
