“ Six of the towns you give the Levites will be cities of refuge, to which a person who has killed someone may flee. In addition, give them forty-two other towns.

“ Six of the towns you give the Levites will be cities to go to for safety. A person who has killed someone can run to one of them. Also give the Levites 42 other towns.

“ The cities that you give to the Levites shall be the six cities of refuge, where you shall permit the manslayer to flee, and in addition to them you shall give forty-two cities.

“ Six of the towns you give the Levites will be cities of refuge, where a person who has accidentally killed someone can flee for safety. In addition, give them forty two other towns.

“ The cities you give the Levites will include six cities of refuge, which you will provide so that the one who kills someone may flee there; in addition to these, give forty-two other cities.

The cities which you shall give to the Levites shall be the six cities of refuge, which you shall provide for the one who commits manslaughter to flee to; and in addition to them you shall give forty two cities.

“ Now among the cities which you will give to the Levites you shall appoint six cities of refuge, to which a manslayer may flee. And to these you shall add forty-two cities.

And the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites, they shall be the six cities of refuge, which ye shall give for the manslayer to flee unto: and besides them ye shall give forty and two cities.

於是以色列人照耶和華的指示，從自己的地業中，把這些城鎮和城鎮的郊外給了利未人。

他們把希伯崙，就是誤殺人的逃城和城的郊外，給了亞倫祭司的子孫；又給了立拿和城的郊外、

從迦得支派的地業中所得的是基列的拉末，就是誤殺人的逃城和城的郊外、瑪哈念和城的郊外、

從呂便支派的地業中所得的是比悉和城的郊外、雅雜和城的郊外、

利未人宗族中革順的子孫，從瑪拿西半支派的地業中所得的是巴珊的哥蘭，就是誤殺人的逃城和城的郊外，以及比‧施提拉和城的郊外，共兩座城。

他們把以法蓮山區的示劍，就是誤殺人的逃城和城的郊外給了哥轄其餘的子孫；又給了基色和城的郊外、

從拿弗他利支派的地業中所得的是加利利的基低斯，就是誤殺人的逃城和城的郊外、哈末‧多珥和城的郊外，以及加珥坦和城的郊外，共三座城。

耶和華要作受欺壓者的庇護所，在患難時的庇護所。

這要作為棚子，白天可以遮蔭避暑，暴風雨侵襲時，可作藏身處和避難所。

凡勞苦擔重擔的人都到我這裏來，我要使你們得安息。

我的拯救、我的榮耀都在於上帝；我力量的磐石、我的避難所都在於上帝。百姓啊，要時時倚靠他，在他面前傾心吐意；上帝是我們的避難所。（細拉）

「你們指定的城，是要作你們的六座逃城。約旦河東指定三座，迦南地也指定三座，作為逃城。

「你吩咐以色列人說：『你們要照我藉摩西所吩咐你們的，為自己設立逃城，使那無意中誤殺人的，可以逃到那裏。這些要作為你們逃避報血仇者的城。殺人者要逃到這些城中的一座，站在城門口，把他的事情陳訴給那城的長老聽。他們就要接他入城，給他地方，讓他住在他們中間。若是報血仇者追上了他，長老不可把他交在報血仇者的手裏，因為他是無意中殺了鄰舍的，並非過去彼此之間有仇恨。他要住在那城裏，直到他站在會眾面前受審判；等到當時的大祭司死後，殺人者才可以回到本城本家，就是他所逃出來的那城。』」於是，以色列人劃分拿弗他利山區加利利的基低斯、以法蓮山區的示劍和猶大山區的基列‧亞巴，基列‧亞巴就是希伯崙。他們在約旦河的另一邊，就是耶利哥的東邊，從呂便支派中，在曠野的平原設立比悉，從迦得支派中設立基列的拉末，從瑪拿西支派中設立巴珊的哥蘭。這都是為以色列眾人和在他們中間寄居的外人所指定的城鎮，使凡誤殺人者可以逃到那裏，不至於死在報血仇者的手中，直到他站在會眾面前受審判。

「那時，摩西在約旦河東邊，向日出的方向，指定三座城，使那素無仇恨、無意中殺了鄰舍的兇手，可以逃到這三座城中的一座，就得存活：屬呂便人的是曠野平坦之地的比悉，屬迦得人的是基列的拉末，屬瑪拿西人的是巴珊的哥蘭。」

藉這兩件不可更改的事－在這些事上，上帝絕不會說謊－我們這些逃往避難所的人能得到強有力的鼓勵，去抓住那擺在我們前頭的指望。

求你留意向我右邊觀看，無人認識我；我無避難之處，也無人眷顧我。耶和華啊，我曾向你哀求。我說：「你是我的避難所，在活人之地，你是我的福分。」
