So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye[ are]: for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.

如是、則不污爾所居之地、蓋流人血、乃污其地、非流殺人者之血、則無以潔之、

如殺人命、則污衊斯土、殺人者未償命、則污仍不去、

毋污爾所居之地、殺人流血、即為污其地、若殺人流血於地、不殺殺人者流其血、則地不得潔、

“‘ Do not pollute the land where you are. Bloodshed pollutes the land, and atonement cannot be made for the land on which blood has been shed, except by the blood of the one who shed it.

“‘ Do not pollute the land where you are. Murder pollutes the land. Only one thing can pay to remove the pollution in the land where murder has been committed. The blood of the one who spilled another’s blood must be spilled.

You shall not pollute the land in which you live, for blood pollutes the land, and no atonement can be made for the land for the blood that is shed in it, except by the blood of the one who shed it.

This will ensure that the land where you live will not be polluted, for murder pollutes the land. And no sacrifice except the execution of the murderer can purify the land from murder.

So you shall not defile the land in which you live; for blood defiles the land, and no atonement can be made for the land for the blood that is shed on it, except by the blood of the one who shed it.

Now also many nations are gathered against thee, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eye look upon Zion.

Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

And shed innocent blood,[ even] the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.

Notwithstanding the LORD turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, wherewith his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations that Manasseh had provoked him withal.

They joined themselves also unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead.

If[ one] be found slain in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it, lying in the field,[ and] it be not known who hath slain him:Then thy elders and thy judges shall come forth, and they shall measure unto the cities which[ are] round about him that is slain:And it shall be,[ that] the city[ which is] next unto the slain man, even the elders of that city shall take an heifer, which hath not been wrought with,[ and] which hath not drawn in the yoke;And the elders of that city shall bring down the heifer unto a rough valley, which is neither eared nor sown, and shall strike off the heifer’s neck there in the valley:And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for them the LORD thy God hath chosen to minister unto him, and to bless in the name of the LORD; and by their word shall every controversy and every stroke be[ tried]:And all the elders of that city,[ that are] next unto the slain[ man], shall wash their hands over the heifer that is beheaded in the valley:And they shall answer and say, Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen[ it].Be merciful, O LORD, unto thy people Israel, whom thou hast redeemed, and lay not innocent blood unto thy people of Israel’s charge. And the blood shall be forgiven them.

And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.

By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.

And also for the innocent blood that he shed: for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; which the LORD would not pardon.

His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day;( for he that is hanged[ is] accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee[ for] an inheritance.
