The assembly must protect the one accused of murder from the avenger of blood and send the accused back to the city of refuge to which they fled. The accused must stay there until the death of the high priest, who was anointed with the holy oil.

The court must provide a safe place for the person accused of murder. It must keep the one accused of murder safe from those who want to kill them. The court must send the accused person back to the city they ran to for safety. The accused person must stay there until the high priest dies. That priest has been anointed with holy oil.

And the congregation shall rescue the manslayer from the hand of the avenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to his city of refuge to which he had fled, and he shall live in it until the death of the high priest who was anointed with the holy oil.

The community must protect the slayer from the avenger and must escort the slayer back to live in the city of refuge to which he fled. There he must remain until the death of the high priest, who was anointed with the sacred oil.

以膏油灌其首而膏之、

彼居此邑、迨立於會眾前被鞫、以俟當時之大祭司卒、則殺人者可歸所由逃之故邑故家、○

若受膏之祭司犯罪、使民亦陷於罪、則當因所犯之罪、以無疵之牡犢、獻於主為贖罪祭、

兄弟中首受膏傅、衣聖衣、立為大祭司者、毋露首、毋裂衣、

兄弟乎、我儕既賴耶穌之血、得毅然以入聖所、乃由彼為我儕所開永生之新路、自幔而過者、此幔即其肉體、

惟因基督耶穌贖罪、賴天主之恩、無功而稱義、蓋天主立耶穌為贖罪之祭、使人由信其血而可得赦、天主以其寛容、免人已往之罪、而彰其義、即於今時顯彰其義、使人知天主為義、亦稱信耶穌者為義、

又傾膏於亞倫首而膏之、區別為聖、

且未用牛羊之血、惟用己身之血、一次入聖所、永贖人罪、若牛羊之血、與焚化牝犢之灰、灑於不潔者、能潔其身、何況基督感於永在之神、以己無瑕之身、獻於天主、其血豈更不淨爾心去妄行、使爾奉事永生之天主乎、緣此、彼為新約之中保、已死而贖前約時所犯之罪、使蒙召者得所許之永福、福原文作業

是以凡賴耶穌而至天主前者、耶穌能全救之、蓋彼恆存、為之祈禱、○如此大祭司、原為我儕所需、聖潔、無玷無垢、遠乎罪人、升天無上、不似彼大祭司、每日獻祭、先為己罪、後為民罪、蓋獻己為祭、一次而成為民罪獻祭之事矣、律法立懦弱之人為大祭司、律法後之誓言、則立永遠全備之子焉、

且以其十字架、使二者聯為一體、與天主復和、以冤仇消滅於己身、或作蓋以其十字架消滅冤仇使二者聯為一體與天主復和且來傳和平之福音、傳於爾遠者近者、蓋我二者由彼賴一聖神得近於天父、

因殺人者、當居於逃避之邑、直待大祭司卒後、殺人者方可歸故土、

我儕既有大祭司長已升天者、即天主子耶穌、則當持守所奉之教、蓋我儕之大祭司、非不能體恤我懦弱、彼曾於凡事被試、與我儕無異、惟無罪、故我儕當毅然至施恩之寶座前、則可蒙矜恤、受恩寵、隨時得祐助焉、
