The assembly must protect the one accused of murder from the avenger of blood and send the accused back to the city of refuge to which they fled. The accused must stay there until the death of the high priest, who was anointed with the holy oil.

The court must provide a safe place for the person accused of murder. It must keep the one accused of murder safe from those who want to kill them. The court must send the accused person back to the city they ran to for safety. The accused person must stay there until the high priest dies. That priest has been anointed with holy oil.

And the congregation shall rescue the manslayer from the hand of the avenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to his city of refuge to which he had fled, and he shall live in it until the death of the high priest who was anointed with the holy oil.

The community must protect the slayer from the avenger and must escort the slayer back to live in the city of refuge to which he fled. There he must remain until the death of the high priest, who was anointed with the sacred oil.

傾膏其首以膏之、

彼居是邑、迨其受鞫於會眾前、俟當時之大祭司卒、乃返所逃出之故邑、而歸其家、

如受膏之祭司干罪、貽害於民、則必緣其所犯之罪、取純全之牡犢、獻於耶和華、為贖罪之祭、

兄弟中為大祭司者、首沐以膏、任聖職、衣聖服、勿披髮、勿裂衣、

兄弟乎、我儕既賴耶穌之血、毅然而入聖所、由彼為我儕所闢新且生之路、經乎幔、即其形軀也、且既有大祭司宰上帝家、則宜以誠心篤信而進、心被灑以除是非之謬誤、身亦為清水所滌、

惟因基督耶穌之救贖、賴上帝恩、不勞而見義、上帝立耶穌為挽回之祭、俾信之者藉其血而獲宥、以彰上帝義、因其寬容不究既往之罪、今彰其義、致己為義、且義夫信耶穌者、

傾膏於亞倫首以膏之、區別為聖、

且非以羊與犢之血、乃以己血、一入聖所、遂獲永贖焉、若牛羊之血與牝犢灰、灑於不潔者、尚能聖之、致形軀得潔、況基督由永生之神、獻己於上帝、無有瑕疵、其血不尤能潔爾良去死行以事維生之上帝乎、是以彼為新約之中保、以死而贖前約下之罪愆、俾蒙召者得永業之許、

故凡賴之以近上帝者、悉能救之、以其恆生為之籲求也、○夫如是之大祭司、宜乎我儕、乃至聖無惡無污、遠乎罪人、高出諸天、非若彼大祭司每日獻祭、先為己罪、後為民罪、蓋一獻己而已足矣、律立荏弱之人為大祭司、惟律後之誓言則立子永為完全者、

又以十架誅厥仇讐、聯二者為一體、復和於上帝、遂來宣和平於爾遠者及近者、蓋我二者由彼以一神而謁父、

緣彼當居逃城、待祭司長死、祭司長既死、殺人者返其故土可也、

我儕既有大祭司上帝子耶穌、經行諸天、則宜固守所承奉者、蓋我之大祭司、非不能體恤我荏弱、乃凡事見試、與我無異、惟無罪耳、故當毅然近於恩座、以得矜恤、並承隨時之恩佑焉、
