The assembly must protect the one accused of murder from the avenger of blood and send the accused back to the city of refuge to which they fled. The accused must stay there until the death of the high priest, who was anointed with the holy oil.

The court must provide a safe place for the person accused of murder. It must keep the one accused of murder safe from those who want to kill them. The court must send the accused person back to the city they ran to for safety. The accused person must stay there until the high priest dies. That priest has been anointed with holy oil.

And the congregation shall rescue the manslayer from the hand of the avenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to his city of refuge to which he had fled, and he shall live in it until the death of the high priest who was anointed with the holy oil.

The community must protect the slayer from the avenger and must escort the slayer back to live in the city of refuge to which he fled. There he must remain until the death of the high priest, who was anointed with the sacred oil.

因此，弟兄们，我们藉着耶稣的血，可以坦然无惧地进入至圣所。他为我们开辟了一条又新又活的道路，从幔子经过；这幔子就是他的身体。既然我们有一位伟大的祭司管理神的家，既然我们的心被血洒过，脱离了罪恶感，身体也被清水洗净了，就让我们怀着真诚的心，以确信不移的信仰近前来；

但藉着神的恩典，藉着在基督耶稣里的救赎，却无偿地被称为义。神预先定下耶稣为平息祭，是用耶稣的血、藉着人的信，为要显明神自己的义；因为他用忍耐的心，宽容人过去所犯的罪，为了在现今的时刻显明他的义，好表明他自己为义，也称信耶稣的人为义。

他也没有藉着山羊和牛犊的血，而是藉着他自己的血，一次性地进入圣所，成就了永恒的救赎。实际上，如果山羊和公牛的血，以及母牛犊的灰，洒在那些污秽的人身上，能使他们分别为圣、肉身洁净，更何况基督的血呢！基督藉着永恒的圣灵，将自己毫无瑕疵地献给神，他的血难道不能洁净我们的良心脱离致死的行为，使我们事奉永生的神吗？为此，基督做了新约的中保，藉着死赎清了人在第一个约之下的过犯，好使那些蒙召的人可以得到所应许的永恒继业。

故此，他也能彻底拯救那些藉着他来到神面前的人；因为他一直活着，为他们代求。这样一位圣洁、没有邪恶、毫无玷污、与罪人分开、高过诸天的大祭司，对我们实在是合宜的。他不需要像其他大祭司那样天天献祭：先为自己的罪孽，然后为子民；因为当他把自己献上的时候，就一次性地把这事完成了。律法委任的大祭司都有软弱，但在律法以后，誓言保证的话语所委任的儿子，却永远完全。

他在十字架上既然消除了仇恨，就藉着十字架使两者得以在一个身体里，与神和好；并且来传和平的福音给你们在远处的人，也给那些在近处的人。因为藉着基督，我们两者能够在同一位圣灵里，来到父面前。

所以，我们既然有一位已经越过了诸天的、尊贵的大祭司——神的儿子耶稣，我们就要持守信仰告白；因为我们的大祭司不是不能同情我们的种种软弱，而是在各方面照着与我们相同的样式受过试探，只是没有犯罪。因此，让我们坦然无惧地来到恩典的宝座前，为要得着怜悯，寻见恩典，做为及时的帮助。
