The assembly must protect the one accused of murder from the avenger of blood and send the accused back to the city of refuge to which they fled. The accused must stay there until the death of the high priest, who was anointed with the holy oil.

The court must provide a safe place for the person accused of murder. It must keep the one accused of murder safe from those who want to kill them. The court must send the accused person back to the city they ran to for safety. The accused person must stay there until the high priest dies. That priest has been anointed with holy oil.

And the congregation shall rescue the manslayer from the hand of the avenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to his city of refuge to which he had fled, and he shall live in it until the death of the high priest who was anointed with the holy oil.

The community must protect the slayer from the avenger and must escort the slayer back to live in the city of refuge to which he fled. There he must remain until the death of the high priest, who was anointed with the sacred oil.

“如果受膏的祭司犯了罪，使人民陷在罪裡，他就要為自己所犯的罪，獻一頭沒有殘疾的公牛給耶和華作贖罪祭。

“在兄弟中作大祭司的，頭上倒了膏油，又受了聖職，得以穿著聖衣，就不可披頭散髮，也不可撕裂衣服。

所以，弟兄們！我們憑著耶穌的血，可以坦然無懼地進入至聖所。這進入的路，是他給我們開闢的，是一條通過幔子、又新又活的路，這幔子就是他的身體。我們既然有一位偉大的祭司治理神的家，我們良心的邪惡既然被灑淨，身體也用清水洗淨了，那麼，我們就應該懷著真誠的心和完備的信，進到神面前；

但他們卻因著神的恩典，藉著在基督耶穌裡的救贖，就白白地稱義。神設立了耶穌為贖罪祭（“贖罪祭”直譯作“贖罪或使神息怒之法”），是憑著他的血，藉著人的信，為的是要顯明神的義；因為神用忍耐的心寬容了人從前所犯的罪，好在現今顯明他的義，使人知道他自己為義，又稱信耶穌的人為義。

然後把膏油倒在亞倫的頭上，膏立他，使他分別為聖。

他不是用山羊和牛犢的血，而是用自己的血，只一次進了至聖所，就得到了永遠的救贖。如果山羊和公牛的血，以及母牛犢的灰，灑在不潔的人身上，尚且可以使他們成為聖潔，身體潔淨，何況基督的血呢？他藉著永遠的靈，把自己無瑕無疵的獻給神，他的血不是更能潔淨我們的良心脫離致死的行為，使我們可以事奉永活的神嗎？因此，他作了新約的中保，藉著他的死，使人在前約之下的過犯得到救贖，就叫那些蒙召的人，得著永遠基業的應許。

因此，那些靠著他進到神面前的人，他都能拯救到底；因為他長遠活著，為他們代求。這樣的一位大祭司，對我們本是合適的。他是聖潔、沒有邪惡、沒有玷污、從罪人中分別出來、高過眾天的。他不必像那些大祭司，天天先為自己的罪獻祭，然後為人民的罪獻祭；因為他獻上了自己，就把這事一次而永遠的成全了。律法所立的大祭司，都是軟弱的人；可是在律法以後，用誓言所立的兒子，卻是成為完全直到永遠的。

基督既然藉著十字架消滅了仇恨，就藉著十字架使雙方與神和好，成為一體，並且他來把和平的福音傳給你們在遠處的人，也給在近處的人。我們雙方都藉著他，在同一位聖靈裡，可以進到父面前。

因為那誤殺人的應該住在避難城中，直到大祭司死了；大祭司死了以後，那誤殺人的才可以回到他自己地業去。

我們既然有一位偉大的、經過了眾天的大祭司，就是神的兒子耶穌，就應該堅持所宣認的信仰。因為我們的大祭司並不是不能同情我們的軟弱，他像我們一樣，也曾在各方面受過試探，只是他沒有犯罪。所以，我們只管坦然無懼地來到施恩的寶座前，為的是要領受憐憫，得到恩惠，作為及時的幫助。
