爾告以色列人云、當遵我昔託摩西所命爾者、擇逃避之邑、使無知而誤殺人者可逃於彼、如是此邑於爾中、可為逃避復仇之所、逃至此邑者、當立於城門、自訴其事於邑之長老前、長老收之入邑、予之一所、使居其中、若復仇者追及、則長老不可以殺人者付於其手、蓋誤中殺人、素與被殺者無仇、彼居此邑、迨立於會眾前被鞫、以俟當時之大祭司卒、則殺人者可歸所由逃之故邑故家、○
