But in the cities of these peoples that the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance, you shall save alive nothing that breathes,but you shall devote them to complete destruction, the Hittites and the Amorites, the Canaanites and the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites, as the Lord your God has commanded,that they may not teach you to do according to all their abominable practices that they have done for their gods, and so you sin against the Lord your God.

And I will set your border from the Red Sea to the Sea of the Philistines, and from the wilderness to the Euphrates, for I will give the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you shall drive them out before you.You shall make no covenant with them and their gods.They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against me; for if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you.”

You shall not covet the silver or the gold that is on them or take it for yourselves, lest you be ensnared by it, for it is an abomination to the Lord your God.And you shall not bring an abominable thing into your house and become devoted to destruction like it. You shall utterly detest and abhor it, for it is devoted to destruction.

that you may not mix with these nations remaining among you or make mention of the names of their gods or swear by them or serve them or bow down to them,

take care that you be not ensnared to follow them, after they have been destroyed before you, and that you do not inquire about their gods, saying,‘ How did these nations serve their gods?— that I also may do the same.’You shall not worship the Lord your God in that way, for every abominable thing that the Lord hates they have done for their gods, for they even burn their sons and their daughters in the fire to their gods.

And they struck with the sword all who were in it, devoting them to destruction; there was none left that breathed. And he burned Hazor with fire.And all the cities of those kings, and all their kings, Joshua captured, and struck them with the edge of the sword, devoting them to destruction, just as Moses the servant of the Lord had commanded.
