Why do you discourage the Israelites from crossing over into the land the Lord has given them?

The Lord has given the land of Canaan to the Israelites. So why would you want to keep them from going over into it?

Why will you discourage the heart of the people of Israel from going over into the land that the Lord has given them?

“ Why do you want to discourage the rest of the people of Israel from going across to the land the Lord has given them?

Why are you discouraging the Israelites from crossing into the land the LORD has given them?

And why are you discouraging the sons of Israel from crossing over into the land which the Lord has given them?

Now why will you discourage the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which the Lord has given them?

And wherefore discourage ye the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which Jehovah hath given them?

他們上到以實各谷，窺探了那地之後，竟然使以色列人灰心，不願進入耶和華所賜給他們的地。

他們告訴摩西說：「我們到了你派我們去的那地，果然是流奶與蜜之地；這就是那地的果子。但是住那地的百姓很強悍，城鎮又大又堅固，我們也在那裏看見了亞衲族人。亞瑪力人住在尼革夫；赫人、耶布斯人和亞摩利人住在山區；迦南人住在沿海一帶和約旦河旁。」迦勒在摩西面前安撫百姓，說：「我們立刻上去得那地吧！我們必能征服它。」但那些和他同去的人卻說：「我們不能上去攻打那些百姓，因為他們比我們強大。」於是探子中有人向以色列人散佈有關所窺探之地的謠言，說：「我們所走過、所窺探之地是吞沒居民之地，並且我們在那裏所看見的百姓都身材高大。我們在那裏看見巨人，就是巨人中的亞衲族人。我們在自己眼中像蚱蜢一樣，而在他們眼中，我們也確是這樣。」全會眾大聲喧嚷，那夜百姓哭號。以色列眾人向摩西和亞倫發怨言，全會眾對他們說：「我們寧願死在埃及地，寧願死在這曠野！耶和華為甚麼要把我們領到那地，讓我們倒在刀下呢？我們的妻子和孩子必成為擄物。我們回埃及去豈不更好嗎？」他們彼此說：「我們不如選一個領袖，回埃及去吧！」

於是保羅回答：「你們為甚麼這樣痛哭，使我心碎呢？我為主耶穌的名，不但被人捆綁，就是死在耶路撒冷也是願意的。」

我們上哪裏去呢？我們的弟兄使我們膽戰心驚，說那裏的百姓比我們又大又高，那裏的城鎮又大，城牆又堅固，如天一樣高，並且我們在那裏看見亞衲族人。』

他們從何珥山起行，繞過以東地往紅海那條路走。在路上，百姓心中煩躁。
