The Lord has given the land of Canaan to the Israelites. So why would you want to keep them from going over into it?

Why will you discourage the heart of the people of Israel from going over into the land that the Lord has given them?

他们告诉摩西：“我们到了你派我们去的那地，果然是流奶与蜜的地，这就是那地的果子。只是住在那地的人强壮，城又坚固又十分高大，并且我们在那里也看见了亚衲族人的后裔。有亚玛力人住在南地；赫人、耶布斯人、亚摩利人住在山地；迦南人住在海边和约旦河沿岸。”迦勒在摩西面前使众人镇静，说：“我们立刻上去，占领那地吧！因为我们必能得胜。”但是，那些与他同去的人却说：“我们不能上去攻击那民，因为他们比我们强。”那些探子就他们窥探之地向以色列人报恶信，说：“我们经过要窥探的地方，是个吞吃居民的地方；我们在那里看见的人，个个都高大。在那里我们看见了巨人，就是亚衲人的子孙，是巨人的后裔；我们看自己好像是蚱蜢，他们看我们也是这样。”当时，全体会众大声喧嚷；那夜众民都哭号。以色列人向摩西和亚伦发怨言；全体会众都对他们说：“但愿我们早死在埃及地，或死在这旷野。耶和华为什么把我们领到这地来，死在刀剑之下呢？我们的妻子和孩子要被掳掠。我们回埃及去，岂不更好吗？”于是他们彼此说：“我们另立一个首领，回埃及去吧。”

保罗却回答：“你们为什么哭，使我心碎呢？我为主耶稣的名，不但被捆绑，就算死在耶路撒冷我也都准备好了。”

我们上哪里去呢？我们的兄弟使我们心灰意冷，说：那地的人比我们高大；他们的城邑又大又坚固，高耸入天；我们在那里还看见有亚衲族的人。’
