使幼稚居於邑垣、免為斯土之民所害、我必預備以戰、不居以色列族後、導入其所。

我儕必持器械、奮勇為以色列人前導、引至其所、我儕之妻與幼稚、可居於堅城、免為斯地之居民擾害、

But we will arm ourselves for battle and go ahead of the Israelites until we have brought them to their place. Meanwhile our women and children will live in fortified cities, for protection from the inhabitants of the land.

But we will prepare ourselves for battle. We’re even ready to go ahead of the Israelites. We’ll march out with them until we’ve brought them to their place. While we’re gone, our women and children will live in cities that have high walls around them. That will keep them safe from the people living in this land.

but we will take up arms, ready to go before the people of Israel, until we have brought them to their place. And our little ones shall live in the fortified cities because of the inhabitants of the land.

呂便人、迦得人、瑪拿西半支派的人都照摩西所吩咐他們的，帶着兵器在以色列人的前面過去。約有四萬帶兵器的軍隊在耶和華面前過去，到耶利哥的平原，準備上陣。

「那時，我吩咐你們說：『耶和華－你們的神已將這地賜給你們為業；你們所有的勇士都要帶着兵器，在你們的弟兄以色列人前面過去。但你們的妻子、孩子、牲畜，可以住在我所賜給你們的各城裏，我知道你們有許多牲畜。等到耶和華讓你們的弟兄像你們一樣，得享太平，他們在約旦河另一邊，也得了耶和華－你們的神所賜給他們的地，你們各人才可以回到我所賜給你們為業之地。』

摩西對他們說：「迦得子孫和呂便子孫，凡帶兵器在耶和華面前去打仗的，若與你們一同渡過約旦河，那地被你們征服以後，你們就要把基列地給他們為業。倘若他們不帶兵器與你們一同渡過去，他們就要在迦南地你們中間得產業。」迦得子孫和呂便子孫回答說：「耶和華怎樣吩咐僕人，我們就必照樣做。我們自己必帶着兵器，在耶和華面前渡過去，進入迦南地，好使我們在約旦河這邊得到我們的產業。」
