昔自離迦鐵巴尼亞時、至渡西勒溪時、三十有八年、於斯時也、斯代之軍士、尸骸消滅、應耶和華所矢之言、蓋耶和華攻之、使之喪亡、尸骸消滅。

上帝使之、終日艱難、窮年觳觫兮。

昔在西乃野、摩西與祭司亞倫曾核其眾、迄今被數之時、無一人在者、蓋耶和華曾有言曰、其人必死於曠野、故靡有孑遺。所尚存者、惟耶孚尼子迦勒、嫩之子約書亞而已。
