The Reubenites and Gadites, who had very large herds and flocks, saw that the lands of Jazer and Gilead were suitable for livestock.

The tribes of Reuben and Gad had very large herds and flocks. They looked at the lands of Jazer and Gilead. They saw that those lands were just right for livestock.

Now the people of Reuben and the people of Gad had a very great number of livestock. And they saw the land of Jazer and the land of Gilead, and behold, the place was a place for livestock.

The tribes of Reuben and Gad owned vast numbers of livestock. So when they saw that the lands of Jazer and Gilead were ideally suited for their flocks and herds,

因為希實本的田園、西比瑪的葡萄樹衰殘了，列國的君主擊打了它上好的葡萄枝子——它的枝子曾伸到雅謝，漫展到曠野，它的藤條曾蔓延越過了海。故此，我要為西比瑪的葡萄樹哀哭，如同為雅謝人哀哭。希實本和以利亞利啊！我要用我的眼淚浸透你們，因為歡呼你夏天果實和你收成的聲音都停息了。

與亞伯蘭同行的羅得，也擁有羊群、牛群和帳篷。

莉亞的婢女悉帕也為雅各生了一個兒子。莉亞就說：「幸運來臨！」於是給孩子起名為迦得。

羅得舉目，看見整個約旦河平原直到瑣珥都是水源充足之地；在耶和華毀掉所多瑪、格摩拉之前，那地好像耶和華的園子，又像埃及地。於是羅得為自己選擇了整個約旦河平原；羅得向東出發，他們就彼此分開了。

他們又對法老說：「我們來是要在這地寄居，因為迦南地的饑荒嚴重，你僕人們的羊群沒有草場了；現在求你容許僕人們住在歌珊地。」

原來世界上一切肉體的欲望、眼目的欲望、今生的驕傲，都不是出於父，而是出於世界的。

莉亞懷孕，生了一個兒子，給他起名為魯本，因為她說：「耶和華看見了我的苦情；現在我的丈夫一定會愛我。」

那時亞伯蘭擁有極多的牲畜和金銀。

他們渡過約旦河，在亞羅珥城南邊的溪谷中紮營，又前往迦得的雅謝；
