巴兰对上帝说：“摩押王西拨的儿子巴勒送信给我：

那兽被擒拿了；那在兽面前曾行奇事、迷惑了接受兽的印记和拜兽像的人的假先知，也与兽同被擒拿。他们两个就活生生地被扔进烧着硫磺的火湖里，

因为他们用诡计苦害你们，在毗珥的事上和他们的姊妹，米甸领袖的女儿哥斯比的事上，欺骗了你们；在瘟疫的日子，这女子因毗珥的事件被杀了。”

他们有祸了！因为他们走该隐的道路，又为财利往巴兰的错谬里直奔，并在可拉的背叛中灭亡了。

但那些想要发财的人就陷在诱惑、罗网和许多无知有害的欲望中，使人沉沦，以致败坏和灭亡。贪财是万恶之根。有人因贪恋钱财而背离信仰，用许多愁苦把自己刺透了。

他们离弃了正路，走入歧途，随从比珥的儿子巴兰的路；巴兰就是那贪爱不义的工钱的人，

然而，有几件事我要责备你，就是在你那里有人服从了巴兰的教训；这巴兰曾教唆巴勒将绊脚石放在以色列人面前，使他们吃祭过偶像之物，并且犯淫乱。

于是巴兰起来，回本地去；巴勒也回他的路去了。

恶人骄横地追逼困苦人；愿他们陷在自己所设的计谋里。

耶和华已将自己显明，他已施行审判；恶人被自己手所做的缠住了。（细拉）

摩押对米甸的长老说：“现在这群人要舔尽我们四围的一切，好像牛舔尽田间的草一样。”那时，西拨的儿子巴勒作摩押王。
