那些渴望发财的人却陷入诱惑、网罗和许多愚蠢有害的欲望中，以致落入败坏和灭亡中。贪财是万恶之根，有人因为贪财就离弃了信仰，结果饱尝种种锥心般的痛苦。

他们离弃正道，走入歧途，重蹈比珥之子巴兰先知的覆辙。巴兰贪爱不义之财，

不过有几件事我要责备你，你那里有人随从巴兰的教导。这巴兰从前教巴勒在以色列人面前布下网罗，使他们吃祭过偶像的食物、犯淫乱的罪。

说完，巴兰动身返回家乡，巴勒也回去了。

恶人狂妄地追逼穷苦人，愿他们落入自己所设的圈套。

耶和华彰显了自己的公义，使恶人自食其果。（细拉）
