他们却擅自上山顶去，但是耶和华的约柜和摩西并没有离开营地。

亚伦的子孙作祭司的要作吹号的；这要作你们世世代代永远的条例。你们在本地与欺压你们的仇敌作战的时候，就要吹大声，使你们在耶和华你们的神面前得蒙记念，也得拯救脱离你们的仇敌。

按着我指示你建造会幕和一切器具的样式，你们要照样建造。

大卫知道扫罗设计害他，就对亚比亚他祭司说：“把以弗得拿来！”

“看哪，神和我们同在，率领我们；他的祭司拿着号筒向你们大声吹响。以色列人哪，你们不可和耶和华你们列祖的神作战，因为你们必不能得胜。”耶罗波安却派伏兵绕到犹大人的背后。这样，犹大人前面有以色列人，他们背后也有伏兵。犹大人转身，看见自己前后受敌，就呼求耶和华，祭司也都吹号。于是犹大人大声吶喊；犹大人大声吶喊的时候，神就在亚比雅和犹大人面前，使耶罗波安和以色列众人大败而逃。

从临门．帕烈起行，在立拿安营。从立拿起行，在勒撒安营。从勒撒起行，在基希拉他安营。

乌利亚回答大卫说：“约柜、以色列人和犹大人都住在棚里，我主人约押和我主人的臣仆都在野地安营，我怎能回家吃喝，与妻子同睡呢？我指着王和王的生命发誓：我绝不敢作这样的事。”

报信的人回答，说：“以色列人在非利士人面前逃跑，伤亡惨重，你两个儿子何弗尼和非尼哈也都死了，民中被杀的甚多，神的约柜也被抢去了。”

于是他们派人到示罗去，从那里把坐在二基路伯中间万军之耶和华的约柜抬来；以利的两个儿子，何弗尼和非尼哈，也与神的约柜一同来了。耶和华的约柜来到营中的时候，以色列众人就大声欢呼，大地也回声响应。

并派七个祭司拿着七个羊角，走在约柜的前面；到第七天，你们要绕城七次，祭司也要吹角。当羊角吹起长号，你们听见角声的时候，全体人民要大声呼喊，那时城墙就必塌陷；你们各人要向前直冲。”于是嫩的儿子约书亚把祭司召了来，对他们说：“你们要抬起约柜；并派七个祭司拿着七个羊角，走在耶和华约柜的前面。”

拿着七个羊角的七位祭司，走在耶和华的约柜前面；一面走，一面吹角；拿武器的人走在他们前面，在耶和华的约柜后面也有防卫的队伍跟着走；祭司一面走，一面吹角。第二日，众人又绕城一次，然后回到营里去；六日他们都是这样行。到了第七日，清早黎明的时候，他们起来，以同样的方式绕城七次；只有这一日，他们绕城七次。

扫罗对亚希亚说：“把神的约柜运来！”因为那时神的约柜在以色列人那里。

亚伦祭司的孙子、以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈看见了，就从会众中起来，手里拿着枪，跟着那以色列人，进入卧室，把他们两人刺透，就是刺透那以色列人和那女子。枪刺进了那女子的肚腹。这样，在以色列人中的瘟疫才止住。那时因瘟疫而死的，共有二万四千人。耶和华对摩西说：“亚伦祭司的孙子、以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈，使我的烈怒稍消，不向以色列人发作，因为他在他们中间以我忌邪的心为心，使我不因我忌邪的心把他们消灭。因此你要说：‘现在我把平安之约赐给他，要给他和他的后裔作为永远担当祭司职分的约，因为他为他的神有忌邪的心，为以色列人赎罪。’”
