From the Israelites’ half, Moses selected one out of every fifty people and animals, as the Lord commanded him, and gave them to the Levites, who were responsible for the care of the Lord’s tabernacle.

Moses chose one out of every 50 people and animals. He gave them to the Levites. They were accountable for taking care of the Lord’ s holy tent. Moses did just as the Lord had commanded him.

他的守望人是瞎眼的，都沒有知識；他們都是啞巴狗，不能叫喚；只是躺臥着，瞇瞇地睡，貪愛打盹。這些狗的食慾極強，不知飽足；嘿，這種人竟是牧人！不知聰明為何物！他們都偏向自行的路，各從各方專求自己的利益。

你的五穀、新酒，和新油、的十分之一、你的牛羣羊羣中頭胎的、和你所許一切還願的祭、你自願獻的祭、和你手奉的提獻物、都不可以在你的城內喫；只要在永恆主你的上帝面前喫，在永恆主你的上帝所選擇的地方喫，你和你兒子和女兒、你奴僕和使女、以及在你城內的利未人都喫；你也要因你下手辦的一切事、而在永恆主你的上帝面前歡樂。你要謹慎，儘你在你土地的日子、你總不可丟棄利未人。

『對利未子孫呢、看哪，我已經將以色列中所有的十分之一獻物賜給他們做產業，作為他們所辦理的事務——會棚事務——的報酬。從今以後、以色列人就不可走近會棚，免得他們擔當罪罰而死。惟獨利未人要辦理會棚的事務，他們要擔當他們可能失錯的罪罰；這要做你們世世代代永遠的條例；在以色列人中、他們不可有產業。因為以色列人的十分之一獻物，就是他們獻與永恆主的提獻物、我已經賜給利未人做產業；所以我對他們說、在以色列人中他們不可有產業。』

哦，永恆主的眾僕人哪，你們要祝頌永恆主；黑夜在永恆主殿院裏站班的啊，你們要祝頌永恆主；

這些事以後、主另指派了七十二個人，差遣他們兩個兩個地在他前面往他所要到的各城各地方去。對他們說：『可收的莊稼多，而工人少；所以你們要祈求莊稼的主催趕工人去收他的莊稼。你們去吧；可要注意，我差遣你們如同羔羊在豺狼中間。不要帶錢囊，不要帶口袋，不要帶鞋，也不要沿路給人請安。你們無論進哪一家，先要說、「願這一家平安」。那裏若有應得平安的人，你們的平安就會歸到那一人；不然，就會折回到你們身上來。你們要住在那一家，喫喝他們所供給的；因為工人得酬報是應當的。不要從這家搬到那家。你們無論進哪一城，人若接待你們，擺上甚麼，你們就喫甚麼；
