From the Israelites’ half, Moses selected one out of every fifty people and animals, as the Lord commanded him, and gave them to the Levites, who were responsible for the care of the Lord’s tabernacle.

Moses chose one out of every 50 people and animals. He gave them to the Levites. They were accountable for taking care of the Lord’ s holy tent. Moses did just as the Lord had commanded him.

他的守望者都是瞎眼的，都沒有知識；他們都是啞巴狗，不能吠；只會作夢、躺臥，貪愛睡覺。這些狗十分貪吃，不知飽足；他們是牧人，但甚麼都不明白；他們都偏行自己的道路，各從各方求自己的利益。

你的五穀、新酒和新油的十分之一，你牛群羊群中頭生的和你所許一切還願的祭、你甘心獻的祭和你手中的貢獻，都不可在你的城裡吃；你只要在耶和華你的神面前，和在耶和華你的神選擇的地方吃，你和你的兒女、僕婢，以及在你城裡的利未人，都可以吃；你也要因你手所作的一切事在耶和華你的神面前歡樂。你要自己謹慎，你在你那地上的日子，永不可丟棄利未人。

“至於利未的子孫，我已經把以色列中所有的十分之一，賜給了他們作產業，這是為酬報他們在會幕裡辦理的事務。從今以後，以色列人不可走近會幕，免得他們負罪而死。唯獨利未人要辦理會幕的事，要擔當他們的罪孽，這要作你們世世代代永遠的條例；在以色列人中，他們不可有產業。因為以色列人獻給耶和華為舉祭的十分之一，我已經賜給了利未人作產業；所以我對他們說：在以色列人中，他們不可有產業。”

這些事以後，主又另外指派了七十二個人（“七十二個人”有些抄本作“七十個人”），差遣他們兩個兩個地，在他前面，到他自己將要到的各城各地去。耶穌對他們說：“莊稼多，工人少，所以你們應當求莊稼的主，派工人出去收他的莊稼。你們去吧！我差你們去，如同羊羔進入狼群。不要帶錢囊，不要帶口袋，不要帶鞋，不要在路上問候人。無論進哪一家，先說：‘願平安歸與這家！’那裡若有配得平安的人（“配得平安的人”原文作“平安之子”），你們的平安就必臨到他，不然，就歸給你們。你們要住在那家，吃喝他們所供給的，因為作工的理當得工資；不必從這家搬到那家。無論進哪一城，人若接待你們，擺上甚麼，就吃甚麼。
