那些好好帶領了信徒的長老，尤其是在傳道和教導上勞苦做工的，應該被看為配得加倍的尊重。

還是特別為我們說的呢？這樣寫下來，當然是為我們的緣故！因為耕田的應該懷著希望去耕田，打場的應該懷著一同分享糧食的希望去打場。既然我們為你們播下了屬靈的種子，那麼，如果我們從你們收取物質上的東西，這算過份嗎？如果別人能從你們那裡分享這權利，我們不是更能分享嗎？然而，我們並沒有用過這權利，反而凡事包容，免得給基督的福音帶來阻礙。難道你們不知道，在聖殿供職的人，都吃聖殿中的食物；侍候祭壇的人，都一同享用祭壇上的供物嗎？照樣，主也吩咐那些傳福音的人，靠福音生活。

在路上不要帶行囊，不要帶兩件衣服，也不要帶鞋子和手杖，因為工人配得自己的食物。

甚至從某種意義上可以說：連那收取十分之一的利未，也藉著亞伯拉罕交納了十分之一，因為麥基洗德迎接亞伯拉罕的時候，利未還在他先祖的身體裡面。既然如此，如果藉著利未人的祭司職份能達到完全——子民本來在這職份下領受了律法——那麼，為什麼還需要照著麥基洗德的等級，而不照著所謂「亞倫的等級」興起另一位祭司呢？祭司職份被更換，律法也必須有所更換。

你們當想一想，這個人多麼偉大！連先祖亞伯拉罕也從最好的戰利品中把十分之一獻給他。雖然利未子孫中那些領受祭司職務的，從亞伯拉罕的後裔中出來，他們還是奉命按照律法向子民，就是自己的同胞，收取十分之一。可是，不出於利未世系的那一位，卻從亞伯拉罕收取了十分之一，並且祝福了那擁有各樣應許的亞伯拉罕。

在這話語上受教導的，就應該將一切美物與教導他的人分享。
