Moses gave the tribute to the priest Eleazar as a contribution for the LORD, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

Moses gave the tribute to Eleazar the priest as the Lord’s part, as the Lord commanded Moses.

“ I give to you and to your sons and daughters all the holy contributions that the Israelites present to the LORD as a permanent statute. It is a permanent covenant of salt before the LORD for you as well as your offspring.”

The elders who are good leaders are to be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching.

Take the tribute from their half and give it to the priest Eleazar as a contribution to the LORD.From the Israelites’ half, take one out of every fifty from the people, cattle, donkeys, sheep, and goats, all the livestock, and give them to the Levites who perform the duties of the LORD’s tabernacle.”So Moses and the priest Eleazar did as the LORD commanded Moses.

Isn’t he really saying it for our sake? Yes, this is written for our sake, because he who plows ought to plow in hope, and he who threshes should thresh in hope of sharing the crop.If we have sown spiritual things for you, is it too much if we reap material benefits from you?If others have this right to receive benefits from you, don’t we even more? Nevertheless, we have not made use of this right; instead, we endure everything so that we will not hinder the gospel of Christ.Don’t you know that those who perform the temple services eat the food from the temple, and those who serve at the altar share in the offerings of the altar?In the same way, the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should earn their living by the gospel.

Don’t take a traveling bag for the road, or an extra shirt, sandals, or a staff, for the worker is worthy of his food.

And in a sense Levi himself, who receives a tenth, has paid a tenth through Abraham,for he was still within his ancestor when Melchizedek met him.Now if perfection came through the Levitical priesthood( for on the basis of it the people received the law), what further need was there for another priest to appear, said to be according to the order of Melchizedek and not according to the order of Aaron?For when there is a change of the priesthood, there must be a change of law as well.

Now consider how great this man was: even Abraham the patriarch gave a tenth of the plunder to him.The sons of Levi who receive the priestly office have a command according to the law to collect a tenth from the people— that is, from their brothers and sisters— though they have also descended from Abraham.But one without this lineage collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed the one who had the promises.

Let the one who is taught the word share all his good things with the teacher.

Every holy contribution the Israelites present to the priest will be his.
