So Moses said to the people,“ Arm some of your men to go to war against the Midianites so that they may carry out the Lord’s vengeance on them.

我要使刀劍臨到你們，報復你們的背約。你們若被趕入城中，我要降瘟疫在你們中間，把你們交在仇敵手中。

耶和華對耶戶說：「因你辦好我眼中看為正的事，照我的心意待亞哈家，你的子孫必接續你坐以色列的王位，直到第四代。」

摩西對約書亞說：「你為我們選出人來，出去和亞瑪力爭戰。明天我要站在山頂上，手裏拿着上帝的杖。」於是，約書亞照着摩西對他所說的話去做，和亞瑪力爭戰。摩西、亞倫和戶珥都上了山頂。摩西何時舉手，以色列就得勝；何時垂手，亞瑪力就得勝。但摩西的雙手沉重，他們就搬一塊石頭來放在他下面，他就坐在上面。亞倫與戶珥扶着他的手，一個在這邊，一個在那邊，他的手就穩住，直到日落。約書亞用刀打敗了亞瑪力和他的百姓。

「耶和華的使者說：『要詛咒米羅斯，重重詛咒其中的居民，因為他們不來幫助耶和華，不來幫助耶和華攻擊壯士。』

你要擊殺你主人亞哈的全家，我好在耶洗別身上，為我僕人眾先知和耶和華所有僕人的血伸冤。

那日是萬軍之主耶和華報仇的日子，要向敵人報仇。刀劍必吞吃飽足，飲血滿足；因為在北方幼發拉底河邊，有祭物獻給萬軍之主耶和華。

「以色列有領袖率領，百姓甘心犧牲自己，你們當稱頌耶和華！

「亞倫祭司的孫子，以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈，使我的憤怒轉離以色列人，因為在他們中間，他以我的妒忌為他的妒忌，使我不在妒忌中毀滅以色列人。

這是他和他的後裔永遠當祭司職任的約，因他為了上帝而妒忌，他為以色列人贖罪。』」

他說：「我指着耶和華的寶座發誓，耶和華必世世代代和亞瑪力爭戰。」

從巴比倫之地逃出來的難民，在錫安揚聲宣告耶和華－我們的上帝要報仇，為他的聖殿報仇。
