So Moses said to the people,“ Arm some of your men to go to war against the Midianites so that they may carry out the Lord’s vengeance on them.

So Moses spoke to the people,“ Equip some of your men for war. They will go against Midian to inflict the LORD’s vengeance on them.

因為你們毀約，我要用戰禍報應你們。你們躲進各城的時候，我要在你們中間降下瘟疫，使你們落在敵人手裡。

耶和華對耶戶說：「你已經做了我視為正的事，照我的意思除掉了亞哈一家，因此你的子孫必做以色列王，直到第四代。」

摩西對約書亞說：「選一些人出去迎戰亞瑪力人。明天，我會帶著上帝的杖站在山頂上。」約書亞便遵照摩西的吩咐迎戰亞瑪力人，摩西、亞倫和戶珥站在山頂上。摩西什麼時候舉手，以色列人就得勝；他的手什麼時候垂下來，亞瑪力人就佔上風。不久，摩西的手疲倦發軟，亞倫和戶珥就抬來一塊石頭讓摩西坐下，然後站在他的兩邊扶著他的手，他就穩穩地舉著手，直到日落。這樣，約書亞用刀殺敗了亞瑪力人。

「耶和華的天使說，『要咒詛米羅斯，要重重地咒詛米羅斯的居民，因為他們沒有幫助耶和華，沒有幫助耶和華攻擊強敵。』

你要殺你主人亞哈的全家，這樣我就可以為我的僕人——眾先知以及其他僕人報仇，他們被耶洗別殺害。

因為這是主——萬軍之耶和華向敵人報仇的日子。刀劍必吞噬他們，痛飲他們的血，因為要在北方的幼發拉底河邊向主——萬軍之耶和華獻祭。

「以色列的首領身先士卒，民眾前仆後繼，你們要讚美耶和華！

「亞倫祭司的孫子、以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈消了我對以色列人的怒氣。因為在會眾中他與我一樣痛恨不貞，我才沒有在烈怒中消滅他們。

使他和他的後代憑此約可以永遠做祭司，因為他為我除掉了不貞之人，為以色列人贖了罪。」

摩西說：「耶和華已經起誓要世代與亞瑪力人為敵。」

「從巴比倫逃出來的人在錫安述說我們的上帝耶和華如何報仇，為祂的聖殿報仇。
