“‘在七月十日，你们要有圣会，刻苦己心，什么都不可作，

“七月初十日，你们当有圣会；要刻苦己心，什么工都不可做。

“七月初十，你们当有圣会；要刻苦己心，任何工都不可做。

“七月初十，你们当有圣会；要刻苦己心，任何工都不可做。

“七月十日，你们要举行圣会，禁食，不可工作。

「七月初十日，你們當有聖會；要刻苦己心，甚麼工都不可做。

七月十日、必有聖會、當苦其心、勿操作、

七月十日、必有聖會、咸止工作、卑以自牧、

七月十日、爾當有聖會、必刻苦齋戒、無論何工、悉毋作、

“‘ On the tenth day of this seventh month hold a sacred assembly. You must deny yourselves and do no work.

“‘ On the tenth day of the seventh month, come together for a special service. You must not eat anything on that day. You must not do any work on it.

“ On the tenth day of this seventh month you shall have a holy convocation and afflict yourselves. You shall do no work,

“ Ten days later, on the tenth day of the same month, you must call another holy assembly. On that day, the Day of Atonement, the people must go without food and must do no ordinary work.

“ You are to hold a sacred assembly on the tenth day of this seventh month and practice self-denial; do not do any work.

‘ Then on the tenth day of this seventh month you shall have a holy assembly, and you shall humble yourselves; you shall not do any work.

‘ On the tenth day of this seventh month you shall have a holy convocation. You shall afflict your souls; you shall not do any work.

And on the tenth day of this seventh month ye shall have a holy convocation; and ye shall afflict your souls: ye shall do no manner of work;

“ You are to hold a sacred assembly on the tenth day of this seventh month and practice self-denial; you must not do any work.

“‘ On the tenth day of this seventh month you are to have a holy assembly. You must humble yourselves; you must not do any work on it.

“‘ On the tenth day of this seventh month you shall have a holy convocation. You shall afflict your souls. You shall do no kind of work;

至于我，他们有病的时候，我就穿上麻衣，禁食刻苦己心；我心里也不住地祷告（“我心里也不住地祷告”原文作“我的祷告都回到自己的怀中”）。

“每逢七月十日，你们要刻苦己心，无论是本地人，或是寄居在你们中间的外人，什么的工，你们都不可作，这要作你们永远的律例。因为在这一天，他要为你们赎罪，使你们洁净，脱离你们一切罪孽，使你们在耶和华面前成为洁净。这是完全休歇的安息，你们要刻苦己心。这是永远的律例。

过了相当的时候，连禁食节也过去了，所以航行很危险，保罗就劝告他们，

“那时，我在亚哈瓦河边那里宣告禁食，为要在我们的神面前谦卑下来，为自己和我们的孩子，以及我们所有的财物寻求神指示一条畅通的道路。

不是的，我告诉你们，你们若不悔改，也都要这样灭亡。”

他们说：“为什么我们禁食，你不看呢？为什么我们刻苦己身，你不理会呢？”看哪！你们在禁食的日子，仍然追求自己喜欢作的事，欺压为你们作工的人。看哪！你们禁食，结果是吵闹和打架，用凶恶的拳头打人；你们不要像今天这样的禁食，使你们的声音可以听闻于天上。使人刻苦自己的日子，这样的禁食是我拣选的吗？难道只是叫人垂头像一根苇子，用麻布和炉灰铺在下面吗？你可以称这是禁食，为耶和华所悦纳的日子吗？

我们知道，我们的旧人已经与基督同钉十字架，使罪身丧失机能，使我们不再作罪的奴仆，

耶和华对摩西说：“七月初十是赎罪日；你们应当有圣会，要刻苦己心，献火祭给耶和华。在这一天，什么工你们都不可作，因为这是赎罪日，要在耶和华你们的神面前为你们赎罪。在这一天，不刻苦己心的人，必从他的族人中被剪除。在这一天，作什么工的人，我必把他从自己的族人中间消灭。什么工你们都不可作，这要在你们的一切住处作世世代代永远的律例。这是你们完全休歇的安息日，并要刻苦己心；从这月初九晚上，到次日晚上，你们要守安息日。”

到那日，主万军之耶和华叫人哭泣哀号，剃光头发，穿上麻布。

我要克制自己的身体，叫身体服我，免得我传了给别人，自己反而落选了。

不是的，我告诉你们，你们若不悔改，都要这样灭亡。

“我必把那恩慈与恳求的灵倾注在大卫家和耶路撒冷居民的身上。他们必仰望我，就是他们所刺的；他们要为他哀哭，好像丧独生子；他们必为他悲痛，好像丧长子。

那些流泪撒种的，必欢呼收割。那带着种子流着泪出去撒种的，必带着禾捆欢呼快乐地回来。

现在我快乐，不是因为你们忧伤，而是因为你们的忧伤带来了悔改。你们依照神的意思忧伤，凡事就不会因我们受到亏损。因为依照神的意思而有的忧伤，可以生出没有懊悔的悔改，以致得救；世俗的忧伤却会招致死亡。看哪，你们依照神的意思忧伤，在你们中间就产生了怎样的热情、申诉、愤慨、战兢、渴望、热诚、正义；你们在各方面都表明了自己在那事上是清白的。

你们应当亲近神，神就亲近你们。罪人啊，要洁净你们的手；三心两意的人哪，要清洁你们的心。你们要愁苦、悲哀、哭泣，把欢笑变为伤痛，把快乐变为忧愁。你们务要在主面前谦卑，他就使你们高升。

他们询问万军之耶和华殿里的众祭司，以及众先知说：“我们还要在五月哭泣和禁食，像我们这许多年来所行的吗？”

哀痛的人有福了，因为他们必得安慰。
