“ On the second day twelve bulls from the herd, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old without blemish,

二日獻牡犢十二、牡綿羊二、未盈歲之羔十四、皆須無疵、

“‘ On the second day offer twelve young bulls, two rams and fourteen male lambs a year old, all without defect.

“‘ On the second day sacrifice 12 young bulls and two rams. Also sacrifice 14 male lambs a year old. They must not have any flaws.

“ On the second day of this seven day festival, sacrifice twelve young bulls, two rams, and fourteen one year old male lambs, all with no defects.

“ On the second day present twelve young bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs a year old— all unblemished—

‘ Then on the second day: twelve bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs one year old without defect;

‘ On the second day present twelve young bulls, two rams, fourteen lambs in their first year without blemish,

And on the second day ye shall offer twelve young bullocks, two rams, fourteen he- lambs a year old without blemish;

“ On the second day present 12 young bulls, two rams, and 14 male lambs a year old— all unblemished—

And on the second day[ ye shall offer] twelve young bullocks, two rams, fourteen lambs of the first year without spot:

“‘ On the second day you must offer twelve young bulls, two rams, fourteen lambs one year old, all without blemish,

“‘ On the second day you shall offer twelve young bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs a year old without defect;

Not for your sacrifices do I rebuke you; your burnt offerings are continually before me.I will not accept a bull from your house or goats from your folds.

For in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, I did not speak to your fathers or command them concerning burnt offerings and sacrifices.But this command I gave them:‘ Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people. And walk in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.’

For seven days you shall present food offerings to the Lord. On the eighth day you shall hold a holy convocation and present a food offering to the Lord. It is a solemn assembly; you shall not do any ordinary work.

In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.

“ On the third day eleven bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old without blemish,with the grain offering and the drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, in the prescribed quantities;also one male goat for a sin offering, besides the regular burnt offering and its grain offering and its drink offering.“ On the fourth day ten bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old without blemish,with the grain offering and the drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, in the prescribed quantities;also one male goat for a sin offering, besides the regular burnt offering, its grain offering and its drink offering.“ On the fifth day nine bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old without blemish,with the grain offering and the drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, in the prescribed quantities;also one male goat for a sin offering; besides the regular burnt offering and its grain offering and its drink offering.“ On the sixth day eight bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old without blemish,with the grain offering and the drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, in the prescribed quantities;also one male goat for a sin offering; besides the regular burnt offering, its grain offering, and its drink offerings.“ On the seventh day seven bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old without blemish,with the grain offering and the drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, in the prescribed quantities;also one male goat for a sin offering; besides the regular burnt offering, its grain offering, and its drink offering.“ On the eighth day you shall have a solemn assembly. You shall not do any ordinary work,but you shall offer a burnt offering, a food offering, with a pleasing aroma to the Lord: one bull, one ram, seven male lambs a year old without blemish,and the grain offering and the drink offerings for the bull, for the ram, and for the lambs, in the prescribed quantities;also one male goat for a sin offering; besides the regular burnt offering and its grain offering and its drink offering.“ These you shall offer to the Lord at your appointed feasts, in addition to your vow offerings and your freewill offerings, for your burnt offerings, and for your grain offerings, and for your drink offerings, and for your peace offerings.”So Moses told the people of Israel everything just as the Lord had commanded Moses.

This will please the Lord more than an ox or a bull with horns and hoofs.

“ What to me is the multitude of your sacrifices? says the Lord; I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of well-fed beasts; I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of goats.

And you shall offer a burnt offering, a food offering, with a pleasing aroma to the Lord, thirteen bulls from the herd, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old; they shall be without blemish;

For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering.The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

Behind the second curtain was a second section called the Most Holy Place,having the golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, in which was a golden urn holding the manna, and Aaron’s staff that budded, and the tablets of the covenant.Above it were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat. Of these things we cannot now speak in detail.These preparations having thus been made, the priests go regularly into the first section, performing their ritual duties,but into the second only the high priest goes, and he but once a year, and not without taking blood, which he offers for himself and for the unintentional sins of the people.By this the Holy Spirit indicates that the way into the holy places is not yet opened as long as the first section is still standing( which is symbolic for the present age). According to this arrangement, gifts and sacrifices are offered that cannot perfect the conscience of the worshiper,but deal only with food and drink and various washings, regulations for the body imposed until the time of reformation.But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent( not made with hands, that is, not of this creation)he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh,how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

In sacrifice and offering you have not delighted, but you have given me an open ear. Burnt offering and sin offering you have not required.

For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.
