“ Our father died in the wilderness. He was not among Korah’s followers, who banded together against the Lord, but he died for his own sin and left no sons.

“ Our father died in the Sinai Desert. But he wasn’t one of the men who followed Korah. He wasn’t one of those who joined together against the Lord. Our father died because of his own sin. He didn’t leave any sons.

“ Our father died in the wilderness. He was not among the company of those who gathered themselves together against the Lord in the company of Korah, but died for his own sin. And he had no sons.

But among them there was not one of those who had been registered by Moses and the priest Aaron when they registered the Israelites in the Wilderness of Sinai.For the LORD had said to them that they would all die in the wilderness. None of them was left except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.

Look, every life belongs to me. The life of the father is like the life of the son— both belong to me. The person who sins is the one who will die.

I, the LORD, have spoken. I swear that I will do this to the entire evil community that has conspired against me. They will come to an end in the wilderness, and there they will die.”

so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace will reign through righteousness, resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The sons of Eliab were Nemuel, Dathan, and Abiram.( It was Dathan and Abiram, chosen by the community, who fought against Moses and Aaron; they and Korah’s followers fought against the LORD.The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them with Korah, when his followers died and the fire consumed 250 men. They serve as a warning sign.

Now Korah son of Izhar, son of Kohath, son of Levi, with Dathan and Abiram, sons of Eliab, and On son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, tooktwo hundred fifty prominent Israelite men who were leaders of the community and representatives in the assembly, and they rebelled against Moses.They came together against Moses and Aaron and told them,“ You have gone too far! Everyone in the entire community is holy, and the LORD is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the LORD’s assembly?”

The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them and their households, all Korah’s people, and all their possessions.They went down alive into Sheol with all that belonged to them. The earth closed over them, and they vanished from the assembly.At their cries, all the people of Israel who were around them fled because they thought,“ The earth may swallow us too!”Fire also came out from the LORD and consumed the 250 men who were presenting the incense.

Therefore I told you that you will die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I am he, you will die in your sins.”

But those who died from the plague numbered 14,700, in addition to those who died because of the Korah incident.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Then he said to them again,“ I’m going away; you will look for me, and you will die in your sin. Where I’m going, you cannot come.”

After Korah assembled the whole community against them at the entrance to the tent of meeting, the glory of the LORD appeared to the whole community.

Zelophehad son of Hepher had no sons— only daughters. The names of Zelophehad’s daughters were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, in this way death spread to all people, because all sinned.
