He is to stand before Eleazar the priest, who will obtain decisions for him by inquiring of the Urim before the Lord. At his command he and the entire community of the Israelites will go out, and at his command they will come in.”

Joshua will stand in front of Eleazar the priest. Eleazar will help him make decisions. Eleazar will get help from me by using the Urim. Joshua and the whole community of Israel must not make any move at all unless I command them to.”

And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before the Lord. At his word they shall go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he and all the people of Israel with him, the whole congregation.”

When direction from the Lord is needed, Joshua will stand before Eleazar the priest, who will use the Urim— one of the sacred lots cast before the Lord— to determine his will. This is how Joshua and the rest of the community of Israel will determine everything they should do.”

你要將烏陵土明放在判斷的胸牌裏；亞倫進到永恆主面前的時候、那兩塊要在他的胸前；這樣，亞倫就在永恆主面前將判斷以色列人的責任不斷地帶在胸前。

掃羅求問永恆主，永恆主卻沒有藉着夢，沒有藉着烏陵，也沒有藉着神言人而回答他。

以色列人取了他們一些乾糧，並沒有求問永恆主怎樣吩咐。

省長大人便告訴他們不可喫至聖之物，要等到有能用烏陵土明來決疑的祭司立起來。

亞希米勒為他求問永恆主，將乾糧給他，並將非利士人歌利亞的刀也給了他。』王就打發人將祭司亞希突的兒子亞希米勒、和他父親全家、在挪伯的祭司們、都召了來；他們就都來見王。掃羅說：『亞希突的兒子，你聽！』亞希米勒說：『主上啊，我在這裏。』掃羅對他說：『你為甚麼和耶西的兒子共謀來害我，將食物和刀給他，又為他求問上帝，鼓動他做仇敵來害我，就如今日的光景呢？』亞希米勒回答王說：『在王的眾臣僕中有誰像大衛那麼忠信可靠呢？他是王的女婿，又是王的衛隊長，在王的家中又是受尊重的。我哪裏是今天才開始為他求問上帝呢？絕對不是：王不要將罪歸僕人和僕人父親全家；因為這一切事、無論大小、僕人全不知道。』

未擺陣之先，以色列人上去，在永恆主面前哭哭啼啼、直到晚上，求問永恆主說：『再去同我們的族弟兄便雅憫人在戰陣上接觸、可以不可以？』永恆主說：『你們可以上去攻打他們。』

可以在他們前面出去、在他們前面進來、領他們出、領他們入的，免得永恆主的會眾如同羊羣沒有牧人一般。』

大衛對亞希米勒的兒子祭司亞比亞他說：『請將神諭像給我拿過來。』亞比亞他就將神諭像拿過去到大衛面前。

論利未是說：『永恆主啊，你的土明烏陵都在你堅貞之士那裏；你在瑪撒曾試驗他，你對米利巴水的事、曾和他爭論。

大衛知道掃羅設毒計要害他，就對祭司亞比亞他說：『將神諭像拿近前來。』

以色列人就起來，到伯特利去求問上帝，說：『我們中間誰該先上去、同便雅憫人交戰呢？』永恆主說：『猶大應該先上去。』

約書亞死了以後，以色列人求問永恆主說：『誰要為我們先上去攻擊迦南人，和他們交戰呢？』

省長大人便告訴他們不可喫至聖之物，要等到有能用烏陵土明來決疑的祭司立起來。

以色列眾人、就是眾民、便上去到了伯特利，坐在永恆主面前那裏哭；那一天禁食、直到晚上，又在永恆主面前獻上燔祭和平安祭。當那些日子、上帝的約櫃在那裏；那些日子、亞倫的孫子、以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈、站在永恆主面前供職；以色列人求問永恆主說：『應該再出去、同我們的族弟兄便雅憫人交戰呢？還是該罷休呢？』永恆主說：『你們只管上去，因為明天我必將他們交在你們手中。』

又給他戴上胸牌，將烏陵土明放在胸牌裏，
