He is to stand before Eleazar the priest, who will obtain decisions for him by inquiring of the Urim before the Lord. At his command he and the entire community of the Israelites will go out, and at his command they will come in.”

Joshua will stand in front of Eleazar the priest. Eleazar will help him make decisions. Eleazar will get help from me by using the Urim. Joshua and the whole community of Israel must not make any move at all unless I command them to.”

When direction from the Lord is needed, Joshua will stand before Eleazar the priest, who will use the Urim— one of the sacred lots cast before the Lord— to determine his will. This is how Joshua and the rest of the community of Israel will determine everything they should do.”

He will stand before the priest Eleazar who will consult the LORD for him with the decision of the Urim. He and all the Israelites with him, even the entire community, will go out and come back in at his command.”

And when Saul inquired of the Lord, the Lord did not answer him, either by dreams, or by Urim, or by prophets.

So the men took some of their provisions, but did not ask counsel from the Lord.

The governor told them that they were not to partake of the most holy food until a priest with Urim and Thummim should arise.

and he inquired of the Lord for him and gave him provisions and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.”Then the king sent to summon Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father’s house, the priests who were at Nob, and all of them came to the king.And Saul said,“ Hear now, son of Ahitub.” And he answered,“ Here I am, my lord.”And Saul said to him,“ Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, in that you have given him bread and a sword and have inquired of God for him, so that he has risen against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?”Then Ahimelech answered the king,“ And who among all your servants is so faithful as David, who is the king’s son-in-law, and captain over your bodyguard, and honored in your house?Is today the first time that I have inquired of God for him? No! Let not the king impute anything to his servant or to all the house of my father, for your servant has known nothing of all this, much or little.”

And the people of Israel went up and wept before the Lord until the evening. And they inquired of the Lord,“ Shall we again draw near to fight against our brothers, the people of Benjamin?” And the Lord said,“ Go up against them.”

who shall go out before them and come in before them, who shall lead them out and bring them in, that the congregation of the Lord may not be as sheep that have no shepherd.”

And David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelech,“ Bring me the ephod.” So Abiathar brought the ephod to David.

And of Levi he said,“ Give to Levi your Thummim, and your Urim to your godly one, whom you tested at Massah, with whom you quarreled at the waters of Meribah;

David knew that Saul was plotting harm against him. And he said to Abiathar the priest,“ Bring the ephod here.”

The people of Israel arose and went up to Bethel and inquired of God,“ Who shall go up first for us to fight against the people of Benjamin?” And the Lord said,“ Judah shall go up first.”

After the death of Joshua, the people of Israel inquired of the Lord,“ Who shall go up first for us against the Canaanites, to fight against them?”

Then all the people of Israel, the whole army, went up and came to Bethel and wept. They sat there before the Lord and fasted that day until evening, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord.And the people of Israel inquired of the Lord( for the ark of the covenant of God was there in those days,and Phinehas the son of Eleazar, son of Aaron, ministered before it in those days), saying,“ Shall we go out once more to battle against our brothers, the people of Benjamin, or shall we cease?” And the Lord said,“ Go up, for tomorrow I will give them into your hand.”

And he placed the breastpiece on him, and in the breastpiece he put the Urim and the Thummim.
