Give him some of your authority so the whole Israelite community will obey him.

As Saul turned to leave Samuel, God changed his inmost person. All these signs happened on that very day.

Joshua son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his choice young men, said,“ My lord Moses, stop them!”Moses said to him,“ Are you jealous for me? I wish that all the LORD’s people were prophets, that the LORD would put his Spirit on them!”

Solomon sat on the LORD’s throne as king in place of his father David; he was successful and all Israel was loyal to him.

When they had crossed over, Elijah said to Elisha,“ What can I do for you, before I am taken away from you?” Elisha answered,“ May I receive a double portion of the prophetic spirit that energizes you.”Elijah replied,“ That’s a difficult request! If you see me taken from you, may it be so, but if you don’t, it will not happen.”

Then the spirit of the LORD will rush upon you and you will prophesy with them. You will be changed into a different person.

The LORD greatly magnified Solomon before all Israel and bestowed on him greater majesty than any king of Israel before him.

When the members of the prophetic guild in Jericho, who were standing at a distance, saw him do this, they said,“ The spirit that energized Elijah rests upon Elisha.” They went to meet him and bowed down to the ground before him.

Then I will come down and speak with you there, and I will take part of the spirit that is on you, and will put it on them, and they will bear some of the burden of the people with you, so that you do not bear it all by yourself.
