No human eye has ever seen him, nor ever will. All honor and power to him forever! Amen.Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.

These were his instructions to them:“ The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.Now go, and remember that I am sending you out as lambs among wolves.Don’t take any money with you, nor a traveler’s bag, nor an extra pair of sandals. Don’t hesitate to accept hospitality, because those who work deserve their pay.“ If you enter a town and it welcomes you, eat whatever is set before you.Heal the sick, and tell them,‘ The Kingdom of God is near you now.’But if a town refuses to welcome you, go out into its streets and say,‘ We wipe even the dust of your town from our feet to show that we have abandoned you to your fate. And know this— the Kingdom of God is near!’

One day Jesus called together his twelve disciples and gave them power and authority to cast out all demons and to heal all diseases.Then he sent them out to tell everyone about the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick.“ Take nothing for your journey,” he instructed them.“ Don’t take a walking stick, a traveler’s bag, food, money, or even a change of clothes.Wherever you go, stay in the same house until you leave town.And if a town refuses to welcome you, shake its dust from your feet as you leave to show that you have abandoned those people to their fate.”

I solemnly command you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus and the highest angels to obey these instructions without taking sides or showing favoritism to anyone.

Then the Lord commissioned Joshua son of Nun with these words:“ Be strong and courageous, for you must bring the people of Israel into the land I swore to give them. I will be with you.”

I solemnly urge you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who will someday judge the living and the dead when he comes to set up his Kingdom:Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear.They will reject the truth and chase after myths.But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at telling others the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you.As for me, my life has already been poured out as an offering to God. The time of my death is near.
