昔在尋野水濱、會眾紛爭、爾曹悖逆我命、不於民前尊我為聖、所言之水、在加低斯米利巴、

昔在汛野、迦鐵境、米利巴水濱、會眾紛爭、爾於斯時悖逆我命、不於民前尊我。

緣昔在汛野會眾紛爭之時、爾曹違背我命、未在水處、當會眾目前崇我為聖、所言之水、即汛野迦叠之米利巴水、

for when the community rebelled at the waters in the Desert of Zin, both of you disobeyed my command to honor me as holy before their eyes.”( These were the waters of Meribah Kadesh, in the Desert of Zin.)

The community refused to obey me at the waters of Meribah Kadesh in the Desert of Zin. At that time, you and Aaron did not obey my command. You did not honor me in front of them as the holy God.”

because you rebelled against my word in the wilderness of Zin when the congregation quarreled, failing to uphold me as holy at the waters before their eyes.”( These are the waters of Meribah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.)

for you both rebelled against my instructions in the wilderness of Zin. When the people of Israel rebelled, you failed to demonstrate my holiness to them at the waters.”( These are the waters of Meribah at Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.)

他给那地方起名叫玛撒，又叫米利巴，因为以色列人在那里争吵，又因为他们试探耶和华，说：“耶和华是不是在我们中间呢？”

因为你们的缘故，耶和华也向我发怒，说：‘你也不能进入那地；

“你要拿着杖，和你的哥哥亚伦聚集会众，在他们眼前，吩咐磐石出水；这样你就可以使磐石流出水来，给会众和他们的牲畜喝。”于是，摩西照着耶和华吩咐他的，从耶和华面前拿了杖去。摩西和亚伦聚集了会众到磐石面前；摩西对他们说：“悖逆的人哪，你们要听，我们为你们使水从磐石中流出来吗？”摩西举手，用杖击打磐石两次，就有很多水流出来，会众和他们的牲畜都喝了。耶和华对摩西和亚伦说：“因为你们不信我，不在以色列人眼前尊我为圣，所以你们必不得领这会众进入我赐给他们的地。”这就是米利巴水，因为以色列人在那里与耶和华争闹，耶和华在他们中间显为圣。

“亚伦要归到他本族人那里去，他必不得进入我赐给以色列人的那地，因为在米利巴水的事上，你们违背了我的吩咐。

正月间，以色列全体会众到了寻的旷野，就住在加低斯；米利暗死在那里，也埋葬在那里。

因为你们在寻的旷野，在加低斯米利巴水边，在以色列人中间悖逆我，在以色列人中间没有尊我为圣。我赐给以色列人的地，你可以从对面观看，却不得进去。”

他们在米利巴水边惹耶和华发怒，以致摩西因他们的缘故也受了惩罚。因为他们抗拒神的灵（“他们抗拒神的灵”或译：“他们激动摩西的心”），摩西用嘴说出冒失的话。
