摩西吩咐以色列人说：“这就是耶和华吩咐抽签给九个半支派承受为业的地。

你们要按照宗族抽签，承受土地：人多的要多给他们产业；人少的要少给他们产业。抽到何地给何人，那地就属于他。你们要按照父系的支派承受产业。

这样，约书亚照着耶和华所吩咐摩西的一切话夺了那全地，就按着以色列支派所得的份把地分给他们为业。于是国中太平，没有战争了。

第五签是亚设支派的人按着宗族抽出的。

要根据抽签，看人数的多寡，给他们分配产业。”

于是众人为他们摇签，摇出马提亚来；他就和十一个使徒同列。

第四签是以萨迦，是以萨迦人按着宗族抽出的。

第二签是西缅，是西缅支派的人按着宗族抽出的，他们所得的地业是在犹大人地业的中间。

人虽可掷签在膝上，定事却由耶和华。

但支派，按着宗族，抽到第七签。

第三签是西布伦人按着宗族抽到的。他们地业的边界延伸到撒立。

掣签能止息纷争，也能化解双方激烈的争辩。

又感谢父，使你们配与众圣徒在光明中分享基业。

约瑟的子孙对约书亚说：“耶和华到如今这样赐福给我，我百姓众多，你为什么只给我抽一签，分一份的土地为业呢？”

约书亚就在示罗，在耶和华面前为他们抽签。约书亚按照以色列人的支派，在那里把地分给他们。便雅悯支派，按着宗族抽签所得之地，是在犹大子孙和约瑟子孙之间。

我听见以色列人各支派中受印的数目有十四万四千；犹大支派中受印的有一万二千；吕便支派中有一万二千；迦得支派中有一万二千；亚设支派中有一万二千；拿弗他利支派中有一万二千；玛拿西支派中有一万二千；西缅支派中有一万二千；利未支派中有一万二千；以萨迦支派中有一万二千；西布伦支派中有一万二千；约瑟支派中有一万二千；便雅悯支派中受印的有一万二千。

你们把地划成七份之后，就要把所写的带到我这里来。我要在耶和华—我们的上帝面前，为你们抽签。
