摩西講完了這一切話，那些人腳下的土地就裂開；地敞開了口，就把他們和他們的家眷、跟屬可拉的一切人和財物、都吞下去。於是他們、和一切屬於他們的、都活活地下到陰間；地掩蓋着他們，他們就從大眾中滅亡了。在他們四圍的以色列眾人一聽見他們的號聲，就都逃跑，說：『恐怕地也把我們吞下去呀！』當下又有火從永恆主那裏出來，把那獻香的二百五十個人也燒滅了。

上帝既叫所多瑪蛾摩拉城燒成灰燼，判歸傾覆，立做後來行不虔事之人的借鑑，

你的兩個兒子何弗尼非尼哈所要遭遇的這事必給你做個兆頭：他們二人必在一天之內都死掉。

我必向那人板着臉，使他成為人的鑒戒、成為令人談笑的對象；我必將他從我人民中剪除掉；你們就知道我乃是永恆主。

又如所多瑪蛾摩拉以及周圍城市的人，照這些天使的樣子一味行淫，隨從逆性的肉慾，怎樣受着永世之火的處罰，擺在前頭做後人的鑑戒。

跟以色列人中二百五十個人、就是會眾的首領、會中被選有名望的人、在摩西面前一同起來。

於是地敞開了，把大坍吞下去，將亞比蘭一黨的人掩埋起來。有火在他們一黨的人中間着起來，有火燄消滅了惡人。

這些事做了我們的鑑戒，是要使我們不做貪婪惡事的人，像他們那樣貪婪。你們也不要做拜偶像的，像他們有人、如經上所記『人民坐下喫喝，起來遊戲』那樣。我們也不要淫亂，像他們有人淫亂，一天就倒斃了二萬三千人！我們也不要故意試探主，像他們有人試探了，就被蛇所滅。你們也不要唧唧咕咕地埋怨，像他們有人唧咕埋怨了，就被毁滅者所滅。
