摩西刚说完了这一切话，他们脚下的地就开了口，把他们和他们的家眷，并一切属可拉的人丁、财物，都吞下去。这样，他们和一切属他们的，都活活地坠落阴间；地口在他们上头照旧合闭，他们就从会中灭亡。在他们四围的以色列众人听他们呼号，就都逃跑，说：“恐怕地也把我们吞下去。”又有火从耶和华那里出来，烧灭了那献香的二百五十个人。

又判定所多玛、蛾摩拉，将二城倾覆，焚烧成灰，作为后世不敬虔人的鉴戒；

住巴比伦一切被掳的犹大人必藉这二人赌咒说：‘愿耶和华使你像巴比伦王在火中烧的西底家和亚哈一样。’

这些事都是我们的鉴戒，叫我们不要贪恋恶事，像他们那样贪恋的；也不要拜偶像，像他们有人拜的。如经上所记：“百姓坐下吃喝，起来玩耍。”我们也不要行奸淫，像他们有人行的，一天就倒毙了二万三千人；也不要试探主，像他们有人试探的，就被蛇所灭。你们也不要发怨言，像他们有发怨言的，就被灭命的所灭。
