神判定了所多玛、蛾摩拉二城的罪，把它们倾覆，烧成灰烬，作为后世不敬虔的人的鉴戒；

反抗摩西，还有以色列人中的二百五十个人，就是会众的领袖；会众中被选出有名望的人。

于是地裂开，吞下了大坍，把亚比兰一伙的人也掩埋了。有火在他们的党羽中燃烧起来，烈焰焚毁了恶人。

这些事都是我们的鉴戒，叫我们不要贪恋恶事，像他们那样。你们也不可拜偶像，像他们有些人那样；正如经上所记：“人民坐下吃喝，起来玩乐。”我们也不可淫乱，像他们有些人那样，一天就死了二万三千人。我们也不可试探主，像他们有些人那样，结果就被蛇咬死了。你们也不可发怨言，像他们有些人那样，就被那毁灭者所灭。
