摩西對亞倫說：「取香爐來，裡面放些壇上的火，添上香，趕快帶到會眾那裡為他們贖罪，因為耶和華發怒了，瘟疫已經開始。」亞倫就照著摩西的吩咐取來香爐，跑到會眾當中。那時瘟疫已經在人群中蔓延起來。他就在爐中放上香為民眾贖罪。他站在活人和死人中間，瘟疫就止住了。

大衛在麥場上為耶和華建了一座壇，獻上燔祭和平安祭，耶和華垂聽了他的禱告，瘟疫就在以色列止住了。

大衛對他說：「請你將這塊麥場賣給我，我要在這裡為耶和華築一座祭壇，好止住民間的瘟疫。你全價賣給我吧。」

於是，摩西對以色列的審判官說：「你們各自把權下與巴力·毗珥苟合的人處死。」

他們的所作所為觸怒耶和華，以致瘟疫降在他們中間，直到非尼哈起來懲罰罪人，瘟疫才停止。這就是他的義行，世代永存。

「亞倫祭司的孫子、以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈消了我對以色列人的怒氣。因為在會眾中他與我一樣痛恨不貞，我才沒有在烈怒中消滅他們。
