亞倫的兒子以利亞撒娶了普鐵的一個女兒為妻，她為他生了非尼哈。這是利未人按着家族的族長。

那時，非尼哈起而干預，瘟疫這才止息。

非尼哈祭司與會眾中的領袖，就是與他同來那些以色列族系的領袖，聽見呂便人、迦得人、瑪拿西人所說的話，就都看為美。以利亞撒祭司的兒子非尼哈對呂便人、迦得人、瑪拿西人說：「今日我們知道耶和華在我們中間，因為你們沒有向他犯悖逆的罪。現在你們把以色列人從耶和華的手中救出來了。」

從耶和華來的邪靈又降在掃羅身上，掃羅手裏拿槍坐在屋裏，大衛正用手彈琴。

那時，亞倫的孫子，以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈侍立在約櫃前。他們說：「我可以再出去與我弟兄便雅憫人打仗嗎？還是停戰呢？」耶和華說：「你們可以上去，因為明日我必把他交在你手中。」

次日，從上帝來的邪靈緊抓住掃羅，他就在家中胡言亂語。大衛照常彈琴，掃羅手裏拿着槍。掃羅把槍一擲，心裏說：「我要將大衛刺透，釘在牆上。」大衛閃避了他兩次。
