Now when Balaam saw that it pleased the Lord to bless Israel, he did not resort to divination as at other times, but turned his face toward the wilderness.

Balaam saw that the Lord was pleased to give his blessing to Israel. So he didn’t try to use evil magic as he had done at other times. Instead, he turned and looked toward the desert.

When Balaam saw that it pleased the Lord to bless Israel, he did not go, as at other times, to look for omens, but set his face toward the wilderness.

By now Balaam realized that the Lord was determined to bless Israel, so he did not resort to divination as before. Instead, he turned and looked out toward the wilderness,

巴蘭對巴勒說：『你站在你的燔祭旁邊，我且往前去；或者永恆主碰巧來迎見我；他指示我甚麼，我就告訴你甚麼。』於是巴蘭到一個無草木的高處。

巴蘭對巴勒說：『你站在你的燔祭旁這裏，我、我往那裏去迎見永恆主。

掃羅對大衛說：『我兒大衛、願你蒙祝福；你不但一定做大事，也一定得勝利。』於是大衛走他的路去，掃羅也回自己的地方去了。

巴勒就領巴蘭到毘珥山頂上、那裏能夠眺望耶示門荒野。

不過我有一點要責備你的，就是你有執守巴蘭教訓的人在你那裏。這巴蘭教導了巴勒將絆跌物丟在以色列人面前，叫他們喫祭偶像之物並行邪淫、變節去拜偶像。

巴蘭早晨起來，對巴勒的首領說：『回你們本地去吧；因為永恆主不容我和你們一同去。』

看吧，如今我準知道你一定作王；以色列國度必在你手裏堅立起來。

掃羅就起身，下到西弗的曠野，跟着他的有以色列精兵三千人，要在西弗曠野尋索大衛。

你們看，這些女人正是因巴蘭的計謀使以色列人在毘珥的事上對永恆主不忠實、以致疫症在永恆主會眾中流行的。

看哪，我奉命來祝福；上帝既祝福，我不能收回。
