巴蘭就作歌，說：“巴勒把我從亞蘭領出來，摩押王引我出東山，說：‘來吧，為我咒罵雅各，來啊，咒罵以色列。’

巴兰便题起诗歌说：“巴勒引我出亚兰，摩押王引我出东山，说：‘来啊，为我咒诅雅各；来啊，怒骂以色列。’

巴兰唱起诗歌说：“巴勒领我出亚兰，摩押王领我出东方的山脉：‘来啊，为我诅咒雅各；来啊，怒骂以色列。’

巴兰唱起诗歌说：“巴勒领我出亚兰，摩押王领我出东方的山脉：‘来啊，为我诅咒雅各；来啊，怒骂以色列。’

巴兰吟诗预言说：“巴勒引我出亚兰，摩押王请我出东山，说，‘来为我咒诅雅各，来斥责以色列！’

巴兰就作歌，说：“巴勒把我从亚兰领出来，摩押王引我出东山，说：‘来吧，为我咒骂雅各，来啊，咒骂以色列。’

巴蘭便題起詩歌說：巴勒引我出亞蘭，摩押王引我出東山，說：來啊，為我咒詛雅各；來啊，怒罵以色列。

巴蘭唱起詩歌說：「巴勒領我出亞蘭，摩押王領我出東方的山脈：『來啊，為我詛咒雅各；來啊，怒罵以色列。』

巴蘭唱起詩歌說：「巴勒領我出亞蘭，摩押王領我出東方的山脈：『來啊，為我詛咒雅各；來啊，怒罵以色列。』

巴蘭以詩歌預言說：「巴勒引我出亞蘭，摩押王請我出東山，說，『來為我咒詛雅各，斥責以色列！』

巴蘭便發表言論歌來、說：『巴勒領導我出亞蘭，摩押王領導我出東山，說：「來啊，為我咒詛雅各，來啊，怒罵以色列吧！」

乃作歌曰、巴勒招我於亞蘭、摩押王導我於東岳、曰來、為我詛雅各、詈以色列、

乃作歌曰、摩押王、厥名巴勒、招我於亞蘭、導我於東岳、使詛雅各、詈以色列。

乃作歌曰、巴勒導我自亞蘭、摩押王召我出東山、曰、來、為我咒雅各、為我詛以色列、

Then Balaam spoke his message:“ Balak brought me from Aram, the king of Moab from the eastern mountains.‘ Come,’ he said,‘ curse Jacob for me; come, denounce Israel.’

Then Balaam spoke the message he had received from God. He said,“ Balak brought me from the land of Aram. The king of Moab sent for me from the mountains in the east.‘ Come,’ he said.‘ Put a curse on Jacob’s people for me. Come. Speak against Israel.’

And Balaam took up his discourse and said,“ From Aram Balak has brought me, the king of Moab from the eastern mountains:‘ Come, curse Jacob for me, and come, denounce Israel!’

This was the message Balaam delivered:“ Balak summoned me to come from Aram; the king of Moab brought me from the eastern hills.‘ Come,’ he said,‘ curse Jacob for me! Come and announce Israel’s doom.’

Balaam proclaimed his poem: Balak brought me from Aram; the king of Moab, from the eastern mountains:“ Come, put a curse on Jacob for me; come, denounce Israel!”

And he took up his parable, and said, From Aram hath Balak brought me, The king of Moab from the mountains of the East: Come, curse me Jacob, And come, defy Israel.

他就派使者到比珥的兒子巴蘭那裡去，就是到大河附近的毗奪，亞捫人的地那裡，去叫巴蘭來，說：“你看，有一個民族從埃及出來，遮滿了全地，如今住在我的對面。現在請你來，替我咒詛這民，因為他們比我強盛，或者我能夠擊敗他們，把他們從這地趕出去；因為我知道你給誰祝福，誰就得福；你咒詛誰，誰就受咒詛。”

他就作歌，說：“比珥的兒子巴蘭說：‘有眼光的人說，

因為你們出埃及的時候，他們沒有拿食物和水在路上迎接你們，又因為他們從兩河之間的亞蘭的毗奪雇了比珥的兒子巴蘭，來攻擊你，咒詛你。

巴蘭作歌，說：“巴勒啊，要起來聽；西撥的兒子啊，側耳聽我。

巴蘭又作歌，說：“哀哉，神決定這事，誰能得活呢？

我要開口用比喻，把古時隱祕的事說出來，

約伯繼續他的講論，說：

他就作歌，說：“比珥的兒子巴蘭說：‘開著眼的人說，

到那日，必有人作歌諷刺你們，唱悲傷的哀歌，說：“我們徹底被毀滅了，我子民分內的產業，他竟轉給別人了；他怎可從我這裡挪去，把我們的田地分給擄掠我們的人（“分給擄掠我們的人”或譯：“分給背道的人”）！”

那非利士人又說：“今天我向以色列人的軍隊罵陣。你們派一個人出來，我們可以決鬥！”

這就應驗了先知所說的：“我要開口用比喻，把創世以來隱祕的事說出來。”

你僕人不但擊殺過獅子，也擊殺過熊。這個未受割禮的非利士人也必像一隻獅子或熊一樣，因為他向永活的神的軍隊罵陣。”

這些國民豈不都用譬喻、諷刺、暗語指著他們說：“那些濫得他人財物的，滿載別人抵押品的，有禍了！他們這樣要到幾時呢？”

大衛回答那非利士人：“你來攻擊我是靠刀、靠矛、靠槍，但我來攻擊你是靠萬軍之耶和華的名；萬軍之耶和華就是你所辱罵的以色列軍隊的神。

“人子啊！你要向以色列家出謎語，設比喻，

這人向以色列人罵陣，大衛的哥哥示米亞的兒子約拿單把他擊殺了。

巴蘭看見了基尼人，就作歌，說：“你的居所堅固，你的窩巢建在磐石中；

麻雀怎樣飛來飛去，燕子怎樣翻飛；照樣，無故的咒詛也不會臨到人。

因為我必使你大得尊榮；你向我說甚麼，我都照辦；只求你替我咒詛這民。’”

又見雅各聽從了他父母的話，到巴旦．亞蘭去了；

閃的兒子是以攔、亞述、亞法撒、路德和亞蘭。

以色列人彼此說：“這個上來的人你們看見了嗎？他上來是要向以色列人罵陣的。如果有人能擊殺他，王必賞賜他大財富，把自己的女兒給他作妻子，並且使他的父家在以色列中免納稅，免服役。”大衛問站在他旁邊的人說：“如果有人擊殺這個非利士人，除去以色列人的恥辱，那人會得到怎麼的對待呢？這未受割禮的非利士人是誰呢？竟敢向永活的神的軍隊罵陣？”

其次是亞合人朵多的兒子以利亞撒。從前非利士人在巴斯達閔聚集要爭戰，與大衛一同去向他們罵陣的三個勇士，其中之一就是以利亞撒；那時以色列人向上撤退，

起來，到巴旦．亞蘭你外祖父彼土利的家裡去，在那裡娶你舅父拉班的一個女兒為妻。

‘你看，從埃及出來的民族，遮滿了全地；現在請你來，替我咒詛他們，或者我能夠戰勝他們，把他們趕走。’”

他對他們講了另一個比喻：“天國好像麵酵，婦女拿去放在三斗麵裡，直到全團發起來。”

他們知道他這比喻是針對他們說的，就想要捉拿他，但因為害怕群眾，只好離開他走了。

於是我說：“啊，主耶和華啊！人都指著我說：‘這人不是在說比喻嗎？’”（本章第45~49節在《馬索拉文本》為21:1~5）
