Then Balaam said to Balak,“ Stay here beside your offering while I go aside. Perhaps the Lord will come to meet with me. Whatever he reveals to me I will tell you.” Then he went off to a barren height.

Then Balaam said to Balak,“ Stay here beside your offering. I’ll go and try to find out what the Lord wants me to do. Maybe he’ll come and meet with me. Then I’ll tell you what he says to me.” So Balaam went off to a bare hilltop.

And Balaam said to Balak,“ Stand beside your burnt offering, and I will go. Perhaps the Lord will come to meet me, and whatever he shows me I will tell you.” And he went to a bare height,

Then Balaam said to Balak,“ Stand here by your burnt offerings, and I will go to see if the Lord will respond to me. Then I will tell you whatever he reveals to me.” So Balaam went alone to the top of a bare hill,

Then Balaam said to Balak,“ Stand by your burnt offering, and I will go; perhaps the Lord will come to meet me, and whatever He shows me I will tell you.” So he went to a desolate height.

And Balaam said unto Balak, Stand by thy burnt- offering, and I will go: peradventure Jehovah will come to meet me; and whatsoever he showeth me I will tell thee. And he went to a bare height.

Balaam said to Balak,“ Stay here by your burnt offering while I am gone. Maybe the Lord will meet with me. I will tell you whatever He reveals to me.” So he went to a barren hill.

And Balaam said unto Balak, Stand by thy burnt offering, and I will go: peradventure the LORD will come to meet me: and whatsoever he sheweth me I will tell thee. And he went to an high place.

Balaam said to Balak,“ Station yourself by your burnt offering, and I will go off; perhaps the LORD will come to meet me, and whatever he reveals to me I will tell you.” Then he went to a deserted height.

Balaam said to Balak,“ Stand by your burnt offering, and I will go. Perhaps Yahweh will come to meet me. Whatever he shows me I will tell you.” He went to a bare height.

Balaam said to Balak,“ Stay here beside your offering while I meet with him over there.” (niv)

Now when Balaam saw that it pleased the Lord to bless Israel, he did not resort to divination as at other times, but turned his face toward the wilderness. (niv)

Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it. (niv)

Then Jethro, Moses’ father- in- law, brought a burnt offering and other sacrifices to God, and Aaron came with all the elders of Israel to eat a meal with Moses’ father- in- law in the presence of God. (niv)

The Lord called to Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting. He said, (niv)

Then God said,“ Take your son, your only son, whom you love— Isaac— and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.” (niv)

“ Spend the night here,” Balaam said to them,“ and I will report back to you with the answer the Lord gives me.” So the Moabite officials stayed with him.God came to Balaam and asked,“ Who are these men with you?” (niv)

Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham,“ Father?”“ Yes, my son?” Abraham replied.“ The fire and wood are here,” Isaac said,“ but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”Abraham answered,“ God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” And the two of them went on together. (niv)

Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. (niv)

Then the Lord opened Balaam’s eyes, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the road with his sword drawn. So he bowed low and fell facedown.The angel of the Lord asked him,“ Why have you beaten your donkey these three times? I have come here to oppose you because your path is a reckless one before me.The donkey saw me and turned away from me these three times. If it had not turned away, I would certainly have killed you by now, but I would have spared it.”Balaam said to the angel of the Lord,“ I have sinned. I did not realize you were standing in the road to oppose me. Now if you are displeased, I will go back.”The angel of the Lord said to Balaam,“ Go with the men, but speak only what I tell you.” So Balaam went with Balak’s officials. (niv)
