The angel of the Lord said to Balaam,“ Go with the men, but speak only what I tell you.” So Balaam went with Balak’s officials.

Then the Angel of the Lord said to Balaam,“ Go with the men, but only the word that I speak to you, that you shall speak.” So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.

And the angel of Jehovah said unto Balaam, Go with the men; but only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.

「『難道你不知這是我在遠古所定的嗎？如今我要實現我昔日所定的計劃，就是藉著你使堅城淪為廢墟。城中的居民軟弱無力，驚慌失措，羞愧難當，脆弱如野草和菜蔬，又像還未長大就被曬焦的房頂草。「『你起你坐，你出你進，你向我發怒，我都知道。因為你向我發怒，你狂傲的話達到了我耳中，我要用鉤子鉤住你的鼻子，把嚼環放在你嘴裡，使你原路返回。』

因此我就任憑他們頑固不化，為所欲為。

他來要按照撒旦的伎倆行各樣虛假的異能、神蹟和奇事，用盡各樣詭計欺騙那些將要滅亡的人，因為他們不喜歡接受那能拯救他們的真理。上帝就讓他們是非不辨，去相信那些虛假的謊言，使一切不相信真理、反喜愛不義的人都被定罪。

當夜，上帝來對巴蘭說：「這些人既然來請你，你就跟他們去吧，但你只可照我說的做。」巴蘭清早起來，備好驢，跟摩押的使臣去了。
