That night God came to Balaam and said,“ Since these men have come to summon you, go with them, but do only what I tell you.”

That night God came to Balaam. He said,“ These men have come to get you. So go with them. But do only what I tell you to do.”

And God came to Balaam at night and said to him,“ If the men have come to call you, rise, go with them; but only do what I tell you.”

That night God came to Balaam and told him,“ Since these men have come for you, get up and go with them. But do only what I tell you to do.”

即以盈室之金銀饋我、亦不可踰越耶和華之命、我弗擅行、或善或惡、惟耶和華所諭、我代言之。

巴蘭對曰、我豈不曰、耶和華所諭、我必遵循。

對曰、耶和華以言示我、我必以告。

曰姑與偕往、惟我所諭爾必言之、於是巴蘭偕巴勒使臣往、

異邦人設謀、耶和華敗之、使計不成兮。耶和華之旨永在、其意不易兮。

惡者之至、藉撒但力、其妙用異跡奇事、無非偽為、詭詐百出、自棄者為所惑、蓋彼不願受真理致得救、為此、上帝任其大謬、信諸誑言、使不信真理、悅不義者、悉定厥罪、

因爾狂妄驕奢、升聞於上、故必置圈於爾鼻、置勒於爾口、使爾仍由其途而返。

肉尚在口、猶難屬饜兮、上帝震怒、肥健之人、咸遭殺戮、以色列族之丁男、翦滅殆盡兮。

爾國之王、我怒而立之、復怒而廢之、

余任其桀驁、聽其縱欲兮。

曰、爾年已邁、爾子不肖、請爾簡立一王、以治理我、無異他國。撒母耳聞民欲立王、以治其事、意甚不悅、禱於耶和華。耶和華諭之曰、可從民言、彼不第棄爾、乃亦棄我、不欲我治理之。越在疇昔、我導斯民出於埃及、迄於今日、彼常棄我、服事他上帝、彼之待爾亦若是。今可從其言、加以訓誨、示以王之常例。

爾見亞捫王拿轄攻爾、爾則請我、為爾立王、不知爾上帝耶和華為爾之王。爾既欣羨乎王、耶和華為爾立之、今已得焉。如爾畏耶和華、聽從其命、不背其道、則治爾之王、爰及爾曹、俱蒙爾上帝耶和華錫嘏。如所命勿遵、其道不從、則耶和華必降災於爾、與降災於爾祖無異。爾姑侍此、耶和華大有施行、俾爾目擊。今值麥秋、我呼籲耶和華、彼將使雷震雨降、令爾知爾欲立王、已干大戾於耶和華前。撒母耳遂籲耶和華、是日雷震雨降、民甚畏耶和華、亦懼撒母耳、告撒母耳曰、昔蹈罪愆者屢矣、今欲立王、愈形不善、故代我祈爾之上帝耶和華、免我死亡。

耶和華以言示巴蘭曰、返見巴勒、以此言告之。

耶和華諭我曰、人子、斯人之於偶像、中則崇敬之、外則瞻禮之、自陷於惡、豈得諮諏於我乎。故爾當以我耶和華之命、播告斯眾、曰、以色列族之於偶像、中則崇敬之、外則瞻禮之、自陷於惡、後就先知、諮諏於我、我耶和華、必視其偶像之多寡、而降以罰、使以色列族內自訟、因其背我、崇敬偶像。
