And God came to Balaam at night and said to him,“ If the men have come to call you, rise and go with them; but you shall do only the thing that I tell you.”

That night God came to Balaam and said,“ Since these men have come to summon you, go with them, but do only what I tell you.”

That night God came to Balaam. He said,“ These men have come to get you. So go with them. But do only what I tell you to do.”

And God came to Balaam at night and said to him,“ If the men have come to call you, rise, go with them; but only do what I tell you.”

That night God came to Balaam and told him,“ Since these men have come for you, get up and go with them. But do only what I tell you to do.”

God came to Balaam at night and said to him,“ Since these men have come to summon you, get up and go with them, but you must only do what I tell you.”

And God came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men are come to call thee, rise up, go with them; but only the word which I speak unto thee, that shalt thou do.

‘ If Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not do anything contrary to the command of the Lord, either good or bad, of my own accord. What the Lord speaks, I will speak’?

But Balaam replied to Balak,“ Did I not tell you,‘ Whatever the Lord speaks, I must do’?”

He replied,“ Must I not be careful to speak what the Lord puts in my mouth?”

But the angel of the Lord said to Balaam,“ Go with the men, but you shall speak only the word that I tell you.” So Balaam went along with the representatives of Balak.

The Lord nullifies the plan of nations; He frustrates the plans of peoples.The plan of the Lord stands forever, The plans of His heart from generation to generation.

that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and false signs and wonders,and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not accept the love of the truth so as to be saved.For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false,in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.

Because of your raging against Me And because your complacency has come up to My ears, I will put My hook in your nose And My bridle in your lips, And I will turn you back by the way that you came.

Yet before they had abandoned their longing, While their food was in their mouths,The anger of God rose against them And killed some of their strongest ones, And subdued the choice men of Israel.

I gave you a king in My anger, And took him away in My wrath.

So I gave them over to the stubbornness of their heart, To walk by their own plans.

and they said to him,“ Behold, you have grown old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now appoint us a king to judge us like all the nations.”But the matter was displeasing in the sight of Samuel when they said,“ Give us a king to judge us.” And Samuel prayed to the Lord.And the Lord said to Samuel,“ Listen to the voice of the people regarding all that they say to you, because they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me from being King over them.Like all the deeds which they have done since the day that I brought them up from Egypt even to this day— in that they have abandoned Me and served other gods— so they are doing to you as well.Now then, listen to their voice; however, you shall warn them strongly and tell them of the practice of the king who will reign over them.”

But when you saw that Nahash the king of the sons of Ammon was coming against you, you said to me,‘ No, but a king shall reign over us!’ Yet the Lord your God was your king.And now, behold, the king whom you have chosen, whom you have asked for, and behold, the Lord has put a king over you.If you will fear the Lord and serve Him, and listen to His voice and not rebel against the command of the Lord, then both you and the king who reigns over you will follow the Lord your God.But if you do not listen to the voice of the Lord, but rebel against the command of the Lord, then the hand of the Lord will be against you, even as it was against your fathers.Even now, take your stand and see this great thing which the Lord is going to do before your eyes.Is it not the wheat harvest today? I will call to the Lord, that He will send thunder and rain. Then you will know and see that your wickedness is great which you have done in the sight of the Lord, by asking for yourselves a king.”So Samuel called to the Lord, and the Lord sent thunder and rain that day; and all the people greatly feared the Lord and Samuel.Then all the people said to Samuel,“ Pray to the Lord your God for your servants, so that we do not die; for we have added to all our sins this evil, by asking for ourselves a king.”

Then the Lord put a word in Balaam’s mouth and said,“ Return to Balak, and this is what you shall speak.”

Then the Lord met Balaam and put a word in his mouth, and said,“ Return to Balak, and this is what you shall speak.”

And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,“ Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their hearts and have put in front of their faces the stumbling block of their wrongdoing. Should I let Myself be consulted by them at all?Therefore speak to them and tell them,‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ Anyone of the house of Israel who sets up his idols in his heart, puts in front of his face the stumbling block of his wrongdoing, and then comes to the prophet, I the Lord will let Myself answer him in the matter in view of the multitude of his idols,in order to take hold of the hearts of the house of Israel who have turned away from Me due to all their idols.” ’
