And God came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men are come to call thee, rise up, go with them; but only the word which I speak unto thee, that shalt thou do.

That night God came to Balaam and said,“ Since these men have come to summon you, go with them, but do only what I tell you.”

That night God came to Balaam. He said,“ These men have come to get you. So go with them. But do only what I tell you to do.”

And God came to Balaam at night and said to him,“ If the men have come to call you, rise, go with them; but only do what I tell you.”

But Balaam answered and said unto Balak, Told not I thee, saying, All that Jehovah speaketh, that I must do?

And he answered and said, Must I not take heed to speak that which Jehovah putteth in my mouth?

And the angel of Jehovah said unto Balaam, Go with the men; but only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.

Jehovah bringeth the counsel of the nations to nought; He maketh the thoughts of the peoples to be of no effect.The counsel of Jehovah standeth fast for ever, The thoughts of his heart to all generations.

even he, whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,and with all deceit of unrighteousness for them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.And for this cause God sendeth them a working of error, that they should believe a lie:that they all might be judged who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Because of thy raging against me, and because thine arrogancy is come up into mine ears, therefore will I put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.

They were not estranged from that which they desired, Their food was yet in their mouths,When the anger of God went up against them, And slew of the fattest of them, And smote down the young men of Israel.

I have given thee a king in mine anger, and have taken him away in my wrath.

So I let them go after the stubbornness of their heart, That they might walk in their own counsels.

and they said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto Jehovah.And Jehovah said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee; for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not be king over them.According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, in that they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee.Now therefore hearken unto their voice: howbeit thou shalt protest solemnly unto them, and shalt show them the manner of the king that shall reign over them.

And when ye saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, ye said unto me, Nay, but a king shall reign over us; when Jehovah your God was your king.Now therefore behold the king whom ye have chosen, and whom ye have asked for: and, behold, Jehovah hath set a king over you.If ye will fear Jehovah, and serve him, and hearken unto his voice, and not rebel against the commandment of Jehovah, and both ye and also the king that reigneth over you be followers of Jehovah your God, well:but if ye will not hearken unto the voice of Jehovah, but rebel against the commandment of Jehovah, then will the hand of Jehovah be against you, as it was against your fathers.Now therefore stand still and see this great thing, which Jehovah will do before your eyes.Is it not wheat harvest to- day? I will call unto Jehovah, that he may send thunder and rain; and ye shall know and see that your wickedness is great, which ye have done in the sight of Jehovah, in asking you a king.So Samuel called unto Jehovah; and Jehovah sent thunder and rain that day: and all the people greatly feared Jehovah and Samuel.And all the people said unto Samuel, Pray for thy servants unto Jehovah thy God, that we die not; for we have added unto all our sins this evil, to ask us a king.

And Jehovah put a word in Balaam’s mouth, and said, Return unto Balak, and thus thou shalt speak.

And Jehovah met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, Return unto Balak, and thus shalt thou speak.

And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,Son of man, these men have taken their idols into their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be inquired of at all by them?Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Every man of the house of Israel that taketh his idols into his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I Jehovah will answer him therein according to the multitude of his idols;that I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.
