人若赚得全世界，赔上自己的生命，有什么益处呢？人还能拿什么换生命呢？

巴勒照巴兰的话做了。巴勒和巴兰在每座坛上献一头公牛、一只公羊。巴兰对巴勒说：“你站在你的燔祭旁边，我要往前去，或许耶和华会向我显现。他指示我什么事，我必告诉你。”于是巴兰上到一个光秃的高地。

于是希律发誓许诺随她所求的给她。

有一个伺候王名叫哈波拿的太监说：“看哪，哈曼还为那报告给王、救王有功的末底改做了一个五十肘高的木架，现今立在哈曼的家里。”王说：“把哈曼挂在木架上。”

现在请你来，为我诅咒这百姓，因为他们比我强大，或许我能打败他们，把他们赶出此地。因为我知道，你为谁祝福，谁就得福；你诅咒谁，谁就受诅咒。”

巴兰对巴勒说：“你要在这里为我筑七座坛，又要在这里为我预备七头公牛、七只公羊。”巴勒就照巴兰的话做，在每座坛上献一头公牛、一只公羊。

“你要计算七个七日：从你用镰刀开始收割庄稼时算起，一共七个七日。

魔鬼又带他上了一座很高的山，将世上的万国和万国的荣华都指给他看，对他说：“你若俯伏拜我，我就把这一切赐给你。”

巴勒对巴兰说：“我不是急切地派人到你那里去召你吗？你为何不到我这里来呢？我岂不能使你得尊荣吗？”

哈曼将他的荣华富贵、众多的儿女，和王使他尊大、提升他高过官长和臣仆的事，都述说给他们听。
