如今你逃往你本地去吧；我說我一定要使你大得榮顯，你看，永恆主卻阻止你得榮顯。』

人若贏得全世界，卻賠上自己的性命，能得着甚麼益處呢？人要拿出甚麼來對換自己的性命呢？

巴勒照巴蘭所告訴他的去行；巴勒和巴蘭就在每座祭壇上獻上一隻公牛、一隻公綿羊。巴蘭對巴勒說：『你站在你的燔祭旁邊，我且往前去；或者永恆主碰巧來迎見我；他指示我甚麼，我就告訴你甚麼。』於是巴蘭到一個無草木的高處。

因此希律用起誓的話公然應許，凡她所求的、都要給她。

在王面前的太監中有一個叫哈波拿的說：『啊，哈曼為那說忠義話來救王的末底改所立那五十肘高的示眾木架現在正立在哈曼家裏呢。』王說：『把哈曼掛在那上頭。』

這族比我強盛，現在求你來、為我咒詛這族，或者我能擊勝他們，能把他們趕出此地；因為我知道你給誰祝福，誰就得祝福，你咒詛誰，誰就受咒詛。』

巴蘭對巴勒說：『你在這裏給我築七座祭壇，在這裏給我豫備七隻公牛、七隻公綿羊。』巴勒照巴蘭所說的去行，在每座祭壇獻上一隻公牛、一隻公綿羊。

『你要算算七個七日：從開始拿鐮刀收割站着的莊稼時開始、算到七個七日。

魔鬼又帶耶穌上了一座極高的山，將世界萬國與其榮華都指給他看，對他說：『你若俯伏拜我，我就把這一切都給你。』

巴勒對巴蘭說：『我不是迫切打發人到你那裏去請你麼？為甚麼你不到我這裏來呢？難道我果真不能使你得榮顯麼？』

哈曼將他財富之豐厚、他兒女之眾多、以及王怎樣使他尊大、怎樣高升了他超過眾官長和王的臣僕們、都敘說給他們聽。
