人若賺得全世界，賠上自己的生命，有甚麼益處呢？人還能拿甚麼換生命呢？

巴勒照巴蘭的話行了。巴勒和巴蘭在每座壇上獻一隻公牛，一隻公羊。巴蘭對巴勒說：「你站在你的燔祭旁邊，我且往前去，或者耶和華來迎見我。他指示我甚麼，我必告訴你。」於是巴蘭上一淨光的高處。

希律就起誓，應許隨她所求的給她。

伺候王的一個太監名叫哈波拿，說：「哈曼為那救王有功的末底改做了五丈高的木架，現今立在哈曼家裏。」王說：「把哈曼掛在其上。」

這民比我強盛，現在求你來為我咒詛他們，或者我能得勝，攻打他們，趕出此地。因為我知道，你為誰祝福，誰就得福；你咒詛誰，誰就受咒詛。」

巴蘭對巴勒說：「你在這裏為我築七座壇，又在這裏為我預備七隻公牛，七隻公羊。」巴勒就照巴蘭的話行，在每座壇上獻一隻公牛，一隻公羊。

「你要計算七七日：從你開鐮收割禾稼時算起，共計七七日。

魔鬼又帶他上了一座最高的山，將世上的萬國與萬國的榮華都指給他看，對他說：「你若俯伏拜我，我就把這一切都賜給你。」

巴勒對巴蘭說：「我不是急急地打發人到你那裏去召你嗎？你為何不到我這裏來呢？我豈不能使你得尊榮嗎？」

哈曼將他富厚的榮耀、眾多的兒女，和王擡舉他使他超乎首領臣僕之上，都述說給他們聽。
