But God said to Balaam,“ You must not go with them; you must not curse the people, for they are blessed.”

上帝曰、爾勿偕往、亦勿詛民、蓋斯民受祝矣、

上帝曰、爾毋與之偕往、爾毋為之詛民、蓋斯民嘗受福矣。

天主諭巴蘭曰、毋偕之往、毋詛斯民、因斯民已蒙福矣、

But God said to Balaam,“ Do not go with them. You must not put a curse on those people, because they are blessed.”

God said to Balaam,“ You shall not go with them. You shall not curse the people, for they are blessed.”

Then I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you, and I will make your name great, so that you will exemplify divine blessing.

Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ.

My people, recall how King Balak of Moab planned to harm you, how Balaam son of Beor responded to him. Recall how you journeyed from Shittim to Gilgal, so you might acknowledge that the LORD has treated you fairly.”

But the LORD your God refused to listen to Balaam and changed the curse to a blessing, for the LORD your God loves you.

How blessed are the people who experience these things! How blessed are the people whose God is the LORD!

Balaam said to Balak,“ Station yourself by your burnt offering, and I will go off; perhaps the LORD will come to meet me, and whatever he reveals to me I will tell you.” Then he went to a deserted height.

So even David himself speaks regarding the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:“ Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered;

God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a human being, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not make it happen?Indeed, I have received a command to bless; he has blessed, and I cannot reverse it.

Balak said to him,“ Please come with me to another place from which you can observe them. You will see only a part of them, but you will not see all of them. Curse them for me from there.”So Balak brought Balaam to the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, where he built seven altars and offered a bull and a ram on each altar.And Balaam said to Balak,“ Station yourself here by your burnt offering, while I meet the LORD there.

and said,“‘ I solemnly swear by my own name,’ decrees the LORD,‘ that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son,I will indeed bless you, and I will greatly multiply your descendants so that they will be as countless as the stars in the sky or the grains of sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the strongholds of their enemies.Because you have obeyed me, all the nations of the earth will pronounce blessings on one another using the name of your descendants.’”

As he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent a message to him:“ Have nothing to do with that innocent man; I have suffered greatly as a result of a dream about him today.”

For there is no spell against Jacob, nor is there any divination against Israel. At this time it must be said of Jacob and of Israel,‘ Look at what God has done!’

For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable.

Now therefore, please stay the night here also, that I may know what more the LORD might say to me.”God came to Balaam that night, and said to him,“ If the men have come to call you, get up and go with them; but the word that I will say to you, that you must do.”

In a dream, a night vision, when deep sleep falls on people as they sleep in their beds.Then he gives a revelation to people, and terrifies them with warnings,to turn a person from his sin, and to cover a person’s pride.

You have joy, Israel! Who is like you? You are a people delivered by the LORD, your protective shield and your exalted sword. May your enemies cringe before you; may you trample on their backs.

How blessed is the one whose helper is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God,
