百姓向上帝和摩西发怨言，说：“你们为什么把我们从埃及领上来，使我们死在旷野呢？这里没有粮食，没有水，我们厌恶这淡而无味的食物。”

就說壞話攻擊上帝和摩西說：『你們為甚麼把我們從埃及領上來，讓我們死在這曠野呢？這裏沒有食物、沒有水；這淡薄的食物，我們的胃口都憎厭了。』

they spoke against God and against Moses, and said,“ Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!”

So they spoke against God and against Moses. They said,“ Why have you brought us up out of Egypt? Do you want us to die here in the desert? We don’t have any bread! We don’t have any water! And we hate this awful food!”

And the people spoke against God and against Moses,“ Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and we loathe this worthless food.”

and they began to speak against God and Moses.“ Why have you brought us out of Egypt to die here in the wilderness?” they complained.“ There is nothing to eat here and nothing to drink. And we hate this horrible manna!”

The people spoke against God and Moses:“ Why have you led us up from Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread or water, and we detest this wretched food!”

So the people spoke against God and Moses:“ Why have you brought us up from Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and we are disgusted with this miserable food.”

And the people spoke against God and against Moses:“ Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and our soul loathes this worthless bread.”

And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, and there is no water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.

The people spoke against God and Moses:“ Why have you led us up from Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread or water, and we detest this wretched food!”

And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for[ there is] no bread, neither[ is there any] water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.

And the people spoke against God and against Moses,“ Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness, for there is no bread or water, and we detest this worthless food.”

第二天，以色列全体会众都埋怨摩西和亚伦说：“你们害死了耶和华的子民。”

他们抱怨上帝，说：“难道上帝可以在旷野摆宴席吗？

百姓便跟摩西吵闹，要他给他们水喝。摩西便对他们说：“你们为什么跟我吵闹？为什么试探耶和华？”百姓非常口渴，他们向摩西抱怨说：“你为什么要把我们带出埃及，让我们一家大小和牲畜都在这里渴死？”

你带我们离开奶蜜之乡，要让我们死在旷野，这还不够吗？你还想自立为王管辖我们吗？你并没有领我们到奶蜜之乡，也没有给我们田地和葡萄园作产业，你还想继续蒙骗我们吗？我们不去！”

以色列人对摩西说：“完了！我们死定了！我们全死定了！

当晚，全体会众放声大哭，整夜哀号。他们埋怨摩西和亚伦说：“我们还不如死在埃及或旷野！耶和华为什么把我们领到这里来，让我们死于刀下？我们的妻儿必被掳去。我们还不如返回埃及。”他们彼此议论说：“我们选一位首领带我们回埃及吧！”

以色列全体会众在旷野向摩西和亚伦发怨言说：“我们还不如当初在埃及就死在耶和华手中。在那里，我们至少可以围在肉锅旁吃个饱。现在，你把我们带到旷野来，是要叫全体会众饿死在这里吗？”

他们对摩西说：“难道埃及没有坟地，要你带我们出来死在旷野吗？为什么要带我们离开埃及呢？

民众因为困难而发怨言，传到耶和华耳中。耶和华听见后便向他们发怒，使火在他们中间燃烧，烧毁了营地的边缘部分。民众呼求摩西，摩西便向耶和华祷告，火就熄了。那地方叫他备拉，因为耶和华的火曾在他们中间燃烧。他们中间有一群乌合之众贪恋从前的食物，以色列人也哭着说：“要是有肉吃多好啊！还记得在埃及的时候，我们不花钱就可以吃鱼，还有黄瓜、西瓜、韭菜、葱和蒜。我们现在毫无胃口，眼前除了吗哪外，什么都没有。”吗哪的形状像芫荽籽，又像珍珠。每天晚上露水降在营地上时，吗哪也随着降下来。早晨民众到四周捡吗哪，把吗哪磨碎或捣碎后，放在锅里煮，再做成饼，味道就像油饼。

饱足的人连蜂蜜也嫌弃，饥饿的人吃苦食也甘甜。

以色列人称这种食物为吗哪，它形状像芫荽的种子，白色，味道像用蜜糖制成的薄饼。

降下吗哪给他们吃，赐下天粮。他们吃了天使的食物，上帝赐给他们丰富的食物。

明天早上，你们会看见祂的荣耀，因为祂听见了你们向祂所发的怨言。我们算什么，你们何必埋怨我们？耶和华听见你们发的怨言了，晚上祂必给你们肉吃，早晨再给你们饼吃。我们算什么？你们埋怨的其实不是我们，而是耶和华。”

百姓就埋怨摩西说：“我们喝什么呢？”

祂使孤苦者有家，让被囚者欢然脱离牢笼。但叛逆者要住在干旱之地。

以色列人见了，不知道是何物，便彼此议论说：“这是什么？”摩西对他们说：“这就是耶和华给你们的食物。
